You know how when you're first seeing someone, and you've never had a Christmas season with this person, and the subject doesn't really come up about whether you're exchanging gifts, but you really, really want to get them just a little something... because it would be fun? And you know you don't really care if you get something back... but you want to make sure that person knows it's no big deal? So what you give that person has to be something that's just the right thing, and kind of casual and.... "Oh, I saw it and I thought of you"?
A couple of months ago, I asked this guy I'm seeing who his favorite baseball player had always been. He thought a bit and said, "Rocky Colavito". I asked, "Who?" (Silly me.) The guy I'm seeing is from Cleveland and grew up watching this guy. I must have stored this in my brain. (Well, who can forget a name like "Rocky Colavito"?)
So I'm browsing through Barnes & Noble last night, having a little extra time, and I'm in the baseball section and there's a paperback book, The Curse of Rocky Colavito. (!!!!!!!) It was the only one, it was the right price, it's mostly about the Cleveland Indians and the "Curse" is the odd things that have happened to that team since they traded away Rocky Colavito.
This was so perfect! I had to have it. And there was only one! It was meant to be!!! The book practically jumped off the shelf into my hands!
Geez. I hope he doesn't already have it.:uhoh:
