Chris, if you decide to go, you'll have a good variety of Curve players to see ...

Five Curve players (Sean Burnett, Mike Johnston, Shawn Garrett, Jose Castillo, and Chan Perry) have been selected.

We all know the story on Burnett (two shaky starts in a row after last night) and Castillo.

Johnston is a 24 year old lefty reliever ... 5-1 record, 2.06 ERA, 31 hits in 43.2 innings, 41 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a .208 BA against. I don't consider him to be much of a prospect and frankly, I was surprised to hear he made the team.

Garrett is batting .293 with 10 homers, 42 RBIs, 18 doubles, and 17 SB ... OBP is a mediocre .355, and he has struck out 65 times compared to 30 walks.

Perry is a non-prospect, but he could help the team in a pinch if someone had to go on the DL ... .308 BA leads the team, so does his 49 RBIs. 5 homers, 18 doubles, and a .350 OBP. Only 22 strikeouts, but only 19 walks.

I'm surprised that Mike Conolly didn't make it over Johnston. From what I've seen of Garrett over the last two seasons I like the way he plays--aggressive, hustles. I'm back in town on the 13th, coming back from the ESPN Great Outdoor Games in Reno, so I may well go. Thanks for the update.

I'm not ... Connolly has struggled as of late, and hasn't been the pitcher he was in the first two months of the season. I don't think it's any big thing, as Connolly has still had a good season to date and will probably finish with a fine AA debut season ... but Johnston has been the more consistent pitcher.

Think I'm gonna go to the Curve game tonight ... great weather, fireworks, haven't been there in a few weeks, and Jacobsen is pitching tonight ... haven't seen him much (there's a guy that maybe should've gone over Johnston).
