Really not a crisp game by the Curve tonight ... lots of errors, strikeouts, and poor situational hitting.

Jacobsen started and labored through 5 innings. He gave up the lone unearned run, allowed 6 hits, only walked one, and struck out two. He got no help defensively ... a Jose Castillo error on a routine flip to SS Skrehot to start a first inning DP went into short LF, and allowed the runner on first to get to third ... next batter hit a long sac fly to LF, and that's how the lone run of the game was scored. Jacobsen really had to work hard tonight ... I'd guess he threw in upwards of 20 pitches in the first frame and 90 total. He worked ahead in the count frequently, but a lot of the Erie Seawolves lined balls right at guys .. just got the bounces when they needed to.

Mike Johnston replaced Jacobsen and pitched 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, no walk, 1 hit batter, and striking out 5. Very efficient, very efficient.

Ozias relieved Johnston to pitch the ninth, and struck out two in a perfect inning of work.

Hitting wise ... it was ugly.

3B Kevin Nicholson went hitless, struck out once, and committed an error in the field on a difficult play, but one he should've made ... slow roller to third, threw wide of first ... also happened when Jacobsen was on the mound, but Jacobsen got out of that jam.

Shawn Garrett also went hitless in 4 AB, and he too struckout once. If memory serves, the Curve had guys on first and second in the sixth inning I'd guess, and he struck out to end that threat ... Curve only advanced two runners to second all night.

Jose Castillo had a poor game ... he did collect a hit, but his first inning error allowed the only run to score, and he grounded out weakly twice and popped out once.

Chan Perry had two singles in four ABs ... Curve only had two hits through the fifth, and he had both.

Roneberg had a hit, and he got a workout at first ... seemed no play was routine for the Curve tonight .. hell, on a simple throw to first to complete the strikeout, he had to come off the bag, catch the ball, and tag the base ... sloppy throws all night to first, and I bet he picked the ball two or three times.

Real goat of the game was Josh Bonifay, without question ... 3 K's in 4 ABs.

Chris Duffy, who is on a decent streak since being dropped from the leadoff spot, had a hit and a walk ... I believe it was Duffy who singled and made it to third base in the ninth, only to have that rally thwarted on a nice defensive play from Erie's 2B.

Chris Heintz doubled and singled ... good night at the plate for Heintz, as he had the only extra-base hit.

Skrehot also reached base twice on a single and a walk.

Corrections coming tomorrow ...

No problem, Chris ... I've got no reason not to do it.

Likewise, I enjoy it whenever someone else goes to Curve games and gives a recap ... I like to hear other people's opinions, then I know how far off I am on some guys. ;)
