It looks like Giambi will make the all-star.... he was voted in as the 32nd player. :)
Jeter didn't deserve it this year with his injuries....
I think Mussina might have made it, but his last game probably ruined it for him :hmm: There are too many teams that needed to get that "one" player on the team, but I don't think he was snubbed. :)

I was kind of annoyed with an article I read that said that Clemens was one of the biggest snubs this year. I would take Wells(higher ERA, but that's because of that pounding the other day) or Mussina over him with their seasons this year and that's just on his team. I'd also take Tim Hudson over him for sure.
The writer of the article's reasoning was that this is Clemens' last year and he's had such a great career. But I didn't agree with it when Ripken got in 2001 because it was his last year, and now the game actually means something. Great careers are rewarded by Hall of Fame induction. Great seasons are rewarded be all-star selections.
Moose was definately the biggest snub from the Yanks, and he supported that case in yesterday's game.

Everyone keeps bringing up Ripken in 2001 but wasnt he voted in???
I know he started the game so I am assuming he was voted in so that makes it a big difference......
Plus he ended up being the MVP:D

Yea he was voted in becase I'm pretty sure he started. But the motive for fans voting him in was probably because of his career. Because he wasn't really having an all star season at all if I remember.

Moose definately got screwed.....
Ya know what....I think this whole 'This time it means something" business is crap! It's like their saying that in previous All Star games the players didn't try to win. And anyway....isn't an All Star game supposed to be, in a sense, an Exhibition game for the fans to see th players that they voted into the game???
So now the winner of the All Star game gets home field for the playoffs...why don't they do like they do in football and the Team with the best record gets home field?? Isn't that the way it should be?
Thois whole "this time it means something" is just a way to make sure that it doesn't end up tied like last year, which i thought was pretty cool anyway. So what's gonna happen this year??? Somebodies favorite plaer isn't going to get into the game because "it means something" and then they'll be b**ching about that.
OK, I'm done rattling! :D

yeah, he was voted in at third base and Alex Rodriguez moved over to third to let Cal play short to start the game, the most memorable moment of A-Rod's career if you ask me

I guess I'm in minority since I think Clemens was the biggest snub.
Moose's record and stats are impressive. What's not so impressive is how he's pitched after the month of April. I'm not sure of his ERA and how many wins the bullpen may have blown, but I know he's 3-4 and has been blown up once or twice.
Giambi wasn't a snub. He's played horribly for two out of the three months so far. He was scorching in June and I have no doubt that by the end of the season he'll have his usual numbers, but his lowly April and May is enough to keep him off the team.
Derek and Mo weren't snubbed because they missed six weeks. Mo you might be able to make a case for, since he's been one of the best closers since he's been healthy, but Derek right now is still leagues behind Nomar and A-Rod.
Clemens hasn't had a horrible season by any means. He leads the league in K's, he's been the ace of our staff, and this is his LAST YEAR!! He's had two awful starts in his chase for 300 and another blowup against Boston that has inflated his ERA, but other than that he's pitched great. Just looking at stats and ignoring the sentimental stuff, I don't think you can convince me that Keith "I Hate Tim Hudson" Foulke or Eddie Guardado deserves to be an All-Star anymore than Clemens.
Honestly, the only Yankee snub that bothers me is Clemens, since I would have loved to see him there. But I'm not going to object to Boomer, Moose, and Mo getting a couple more days rest. Homefield Advantage doesn't mean anything if you don't make the playoffs in the first place.
And the Yankees snubs aren't half as glaring as some other snubs anyway. How can Keith Foulke make the team over Tim Hudson? How can Pedro be left off it??? Bud Selig's turned the whole All-Star Game is a joke.
But the AL will win anyway, since the NL roster includes Armando Benitez :D

well, benitez is on the NL roster, but there is no way in hell he'll get into the game, which is why the NL is going to win

The NL roster definitely looks scarier, but if the game goes to extras and Benitez comes in...:naughty:
I can dream :D
Probably Moose, but Clemens also to an extent.
Why is Benitez in the All Star team?:umm
