SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants released pitcher Wayne Gomes and two outfielders Monday.

Gomes' departure, along with the release of outfielders Jalal Leach and Dante Powell, leaves the Giants with 34 players on their 40-man roster.

Gomes, 29, split the 2000 season between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Giants, posting a 5.29 ERA in the combined 55 games. The right-hander was eligible for salary arbitration.

Leach, 32, spent 12 years in the minor leagues before finally getting a call up to the majors with his hometown Giants. He batted .100 (1-for-10) in eight games.

Powell, 28, was recalled by the Giants in September and hit .333 in 13 games
