Yes, the Detroit starters can pitch. Especially at Comerica National Park. They have the makings of a good rotation if Maroth, Ledezma, Bonderman and Roney can continue to improve.

Jen, I liked Ledezma coming out of ST. He has more than one pitch, throws effortlessly and is lefthanded. His problem is that he has only pitched something like 26 innings the last two years due to injuries. They already have plans to limit his pitch counts and spread out his starts after the break.

I heard the announcers talking about that today. They said absolutely no more than 100 innings and about 100 pitches per game

We still need to find a few releivers. I mean how many games has the bullpen blown this year? But overall, i think this is what Trammell expected/wanted out of this team. They play very hard, and are pitching much better than expected, but they just don't have the players in place to contend.

With the pitching we've had this year, it's my belief that with an average offense we wouldn't be out of the race. However, thus far we may just have the worst offense of modern day baseball.

I think you are exactly right, Gerg. If they had even an average MLB offense, these guys would be very close to the top of this crummy division. Some people argue that a big free agent or two wouldn't help this team, but when the division could be won with just over 80 games, you have to think a Tejada or Guerrero might help the Tigs contend for the AL Central sooner than later.

Funny, we say just the opposite in Boston.:D

With our offense, if we had even a MEDIOCRE pen, we'd be running away with our division.

22 games blown by the pen. Gotta be a record.
