PHILADELPHIA -- Aaron Heilman will make his second consecutive start against the Phillies on Monday night at Veterans Stadium still in search of his first big-league victory.

The Mets' former first-round pick has allowed 13 runs in his last 8 1/3 innings, including eight runs in 4 1/3 innings his last time out against Philadelphia.

"Aaron is a work in progress," Mets pitching coach Vern Ruhle said. "He needs to get his arm to a consistent release point. He has a tendency to fly open. When he first came up his splitter and his changeup were very close. Now you see more of a separation. He accepts, though, that it's not going to be a perfect world right now."

Pitching matchup:
NYM: RHP Aaron Heilman
0-2, 7.17 in 2003
0-1, 16.63 vs. PHI in 2003
0-1, 16.63 lifetime vs. PHI

PHI: RHP Brandon Duckworth
3-3, 4.76 in 2003
0-0, 1.69 vs. NYM in 2003
1-2, 5.25 lifetime vs. NYM

Players to watch: Ty Wigginton, Jose Reyes and Jeff Duncan have combined to go 5-for-8 (.625) against Duckworth.

Quotable: "You have to have the knack to steal third. It takes time. Young players try to steal from a dead stop. You have to time it." -- Art Howe prior to Reyes stealing third base on Sunday in Atlanta
