Right now is there a worst team in the NFL than the Vikings. They for 3 weeks made teams look like Super Bowl teams. The LB's was ran around all game long. They looked bad and slow. They needed to bench the slower LB's at the begining of the game.
Then the Offense looked bad also.
This team isnt giving a quarter of the try they had at the beginning of the season.

Kind of a bitter sweet weekend for me and the Vikes made it that way.
I am in a lossers pool, and you have to pick a team to lose everyweek. If the team you pick wins then you are out. Well it was down to 5 of us and I have one rule when I pick. Never ever ever pick with the Vikings and never pick a NY team. Well I picked the Cards and they lost and everyone else picked the Bolts. So with the Vikings losing I won!!!
About half way through the game I was so p!ssed that I couldnt see straight. So then after a small fit I said fine if you are going to be lossers I will cheer against you!!! So I did and started to cheer for myself (winning the money) Well I did and now I have about $550 for my part on Nanner and I buying the Vikings.

The praise of the Vikings defense that I was so highly singing at the begining of the season I now take back all of it. I take it all back and eat it up all. In no way was I right to do any of that.
What a sick sick showing the Defense has showen the last 4 weeks. That was so sad. They talked about moving diffenent guys in other spots and they didnt do the move that they needed the most. Get rid of those slow LB's. That was sick it has been sick for the last 3 weeks. The Cornhuskers could kill the Vikings so bad right now with running the option that it would make the Vikings look so bad.
But at least this team isnt going to break our heart in the playoffs now. Because I am hoping now just to make the playoffs. And bring in some high schoolers that know how to tackle.
What a sick show yesterday sick sick sick....:barf:

On third-and-goal from the 3 in the second quarter, Flutie dropped back, dodged defensive end Lance Johnstone and then broke for the end zone. He put a Tomlinson-like move on Kevin Williams at the 2 and scored for a 21-7 lead. He jumped as high as a 5-foot-10 player can, then spiked the ball.
Minnesota (6-3) lost its third straight game. Daunte Culpepper completed 32 of 44 passes for 370 yards and four touchdowns. Randy Moss had 11 catches for 120 yards and one touchdown, a 4-yarder.
Was there a bigger hurt than when Bennett fumbled the ball on that drive down by the endzone?
Tice told his offense to take there time scoring because they couldnt count on there Defense.

With the Vikings fans feeling low as they can right now. Nothing is going right. The O-Line that was so great has looked poor. A fumble in a key drive, LB's hurt and slow, the defense line not getting pressure on the QB to get the turn overs that the Vikings was take so much of before. And just getting beat on all sides of the ball and beat bad the Vikings look for something or someone to cheer them up. Orbi is so down and out he hasnt posted much here in the Vikings thread much. So to keep the heads up for the fans they march one of the cheerleaders out to take charge to keep up the fans and hope for the playoffs....

Thank you RED!!!
I am so mad at this guy I want to cuss up a forum real bad on what a piece of turd pie he is!!!
This pooper head after he came out and said that the first game the Vikings lost was the worst game he ever saw and all the players should be ashamed of themself.
Well thanks to this Pee Pee head the Vikings have responded great to his little melt down on the team. They have lost the next two for him.
This Donkeys butt is the cause of this melt down. Not signing the players that he could get or not signing there draft picks until the middle of the season.
Why not do yourself and the fans a great service you dumb hockey puck and sell the team. Not only are you going to drive them in the ground to where Vikings fans will get to watch football like the Lions, Bears fans but you are going to lose the great fan support you have already.
AGAIN THANK YOU RED YOU DONKEYS BUTT!!!!

Interesting that Red said that, I did not realize he had and one of my friends was telling me yesterday that the Vikings look like a team that can not handle losing. Now that I know Red said that its no wonder. If nothing is good enough than perfect then things snowball pretty fast. I just hope the last 3 games are the d's "hiccup" for the year and not the trend for the rest of the season...

Ya Red is a a-hole. But there is a get better game coming up with the Raiders. I had K-Fan on this morning and they said that Clayborn is really hurt and is hurting the team staying in there. I think playing the Raiders you have to let the backup get in there to see if they could do better and let the others heal up.

What a great win last night for the Eagles. It helped out the Vikings alot. So now the Vikes have to take the Packs lost last night and not drop any more games that they need to win.

As opposed to Red being a total butt-hole, (and I totally agree that tirade has to have something with how they're playing now), my informant in Minneapolis (my mom.... :D ) tells me that Mike Tice is totally behind his players and is being very supportive of them....... and he's not worried at all  I'm really glad to hear that, since he's the one who's closest to these guys, and who interacts with them all the time.

Nanner you and I love Tice as coach of the Vikings (Ok I might not love him as much as you or in that kind of love) (Just joking)
But I think Tice is the guy that can turn it around. Three weeks ago it was peneltys that was killing the Vikes. They got that turned around and I think that they will come up with something to stop teams from running around on the outside of them. I think Tice could be like the manager in the Movie Major League where he tells his players to screw Red and play there butts off for themselfs, the guy next to you and the fans that are still behind you. Screw Red by winning the games.
I think Tice has the right guys around him to turn this around and they just have to adjust a bit and will get it together.
I hope anyway!!!

En-Tice-ing a Raiders' spark
It wasn't quite the stuff of Joe Namath or even Jim Fassel, but coach Mike Tice indirectly guaranteed a victory this weekend against the Raiders. At the end of a radio appearance Nov. 11, Tice was asked if his team was going to end its three-game losing streak on Sunday. "Without a doubt," he responded, according to KFAN's Web site. Tice downplayed his comment, but the television reporters were after players' reaction on Wednesday. "I'm standing behind him all the way," quarterback Daunte Culpepper said. So there's no added pressure? "It is pressure every week to win," defensive end Lance Johnstone said. "I guess it is a little different when they guarantee it in the media or whatever. For us internally, we try to guarantee a win every time we step out there, and that is kind of how we approach the game."

CLAYTON: FIRST AND 10
The Vikings have lost confidence on defense, and they better get it back soon. No team has as little confidence on offense as the Raiders, so this is a timely matchup. But it's also on the road, so the Vikings better beware. It will also be interesting to see how the Raiders cover Randy Moss. The Raiders don't have much pass rush, so Daunte Culpepper should have time to get the ball deep to Moss. This also could be a game in which Michael Bennett gets a few big runs. The Raiders have had difficult stopping the run.

I guarantee a win!!! Every week I see something like this it makes me sick.
What team is going to go out there and say I guarantee a loss? Heck ya every team is going to play for a win. This guarantee crap is so old and over used it is just sick. And when a coach says heck ya we are going to win the press comes out all big now and says he is guaranteeing a win in a indirect way. SHUT UP he did not guarantee a win he said what almost every coach would say. What whould it say for him if he said hell no we wont win they will stomp us!!!!
This is a joke I dont blame Randy for talking to the Media or any player almost. If you say something it almost seems that today the press just has to talk to you and if you just say Hi we had a great practice today they will make it out that you said you was going to smash the other team up and walk out of there winning by 60 points because you had a great practice.
Watching the news and reading press statments now a days is about like the weather. (Sorry Dan) On one station it is something differnet than what the other station said about the same thing.

Ok now that I have cooled down a bit I can post I think with somewhat of a level head.
WHERE IS THE HEART!!!!
This is a team with the life sucked out of them. It as you said Ryan this is a team that with one loss they think the season is over.
They have been just a throw team over these last 4 games. They just pass pass pass and add a bit of run. And the one thing I havnt seen is where is the homerun ball. This is a team that hasnt even tried to go deep for a big big play. Where is that jump ball to Randy? Where is that streak from Kelly Cambell? Culpepper is the future of the Vikes with that contract he has to be. But I think it is coming down to where you might have to bench him a game and let Gus out there to show Culpepper how to gun it down the field and let the Big Dog go and get it.
Where is more of those screen passes to the RB. Where are they to Bennett? That is the Vikings second biggest gun. Let Bennett get the ball on the outside and run his butt off. On one in the NFL can catch him when he gets running.
This is an offense that is not using its strength at all. With this offensive line you have to run and pound the ball down the mouth of the other team. What happened to that smash mouth football they were playing? Run the ball run run run run and make the safety move up to stop the run and then WAM Randy down the sideline for a 60 yard TD. Why is it a nobody that just watches football sees this and the coaches don’t!!!!
This is a team that is playing with no heart. There is a QB that has been playing with out mistakes and now he is to afraid to make a mistake to where with this offense you cant do that. This is a coaching staff that is not calling the plays they need to call to win the game. This is a team that isn’t executing at all and making dumb penalty after dumb penalty.
Hey at least the Defense held the Raiders to 2 TD’s. And with the one INT that Culpepper gave up that should have been enough for this team to win easily. This is a team that needs to get slapped and woke up.
Durango53
11-17-2003, 01:39 PM
At least the defense played somewhat better this week.
Two TD's they gave up.
But a slopply game all around. On both sides of the ball and both teams. Turn the ball over 6 times (for the Vikings) you will never ever win.
LesPaul
11-17-2003, 01:42 PM
ya it is crazy and plain out :banghead that they had 9 turnovers all season up until the raiders game where they had 6.

WEEK 11 VS RAIDERS
Phillip Buchanon scored on a 64-yard interception return 49 seconds into the game and third-string quarterback Rick Mirer calmly directed the Raiders to a 28-18 victory on Nov. 16.
The Raiders ended a five-game losing streak and sent the Vikings to their fourth straight defeat.
Daunte Culpepper passed for 396 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score. But his mistakes far outweighed his contributions as the Vikings(6-4) lost for the second straight week in California to a team with a losing record.
With two fumbles and three interceptions, he had five of his team's six turnovers after the Vikings came into the game with only nine giveaways all season. Aaron Elling also missed two field goals.
Buchanon, who scored a touchdown for the second straight week, also had a drive-killing interception in the end zone in the third quarter
The Vikings pulled within a field goal when Kelly Campbell scored on a 29-yard TD catch with 8:32 left and Hunter Goodwin made a 2-point conversion catch.
The Raiders had a chance to seal the victory on a fourth-and-1 from the Minnesota 4, but franchise receiving leader Tim Brown let the ball slip through his hands while wide open in the end zone with 3:06 left.
Culpepper threw three straight terrible passes, and the third was intercepted by Rod Woodson with 2:46 left.
Moments later, Mirer, making his second straight start after not throwing a pass since 2000, capped his gutsy performance with an acrobatic leap toward the end zone. That set up Zack Crockett's second short touchdown run.
Tyrone Wheatley had 109 yards rushing and a score while starter Charlie Garner sat out with a bruised tailbone.
Randy Moss had four catches for 25 yards, none in the second half.

Durango53
11-17-2003, 02:09 PM
Yes Dan I can say it.
The Vikings are the worst team in football right now. The score wasnt as close as it seemed. For the past 4 weeks.

Daunte :bonehead has a million dollar arm and a ten cent head.
It's a good thing that Linehan has a scheme where receivers get open pretty regular or Daunte would throw an int. every time. As long as he can "play catch" with his targets, he's fine. (as in huge yardage numbers) When the primary is covered, look out.
I get so sick of him zoning in on the primary receiver and throwing the ball no matter what to that guy. On the one pass he tried to force to Moss in the end zone, through triple coverage, Campbell was wide open in the middle.
The other practice is he looks at the primary and if he has coverage on him at the line, he forgets about him and marks a new receiver as primary, and goes to him. Hence Randy, being out of the game. Why wait a bit to see if "the Freak" can get open by actually running the pattern?
Another huge gripe is, why can't Daunte throwing the ball with some "air under it"? He has a cannon arm but he never throws the ball "high" so Moss can go up and get it. The ball comes in "flat" and Moss' advantage is nullified, since the DB can get his hands in there.
As far as the other players go, I wonder how many of them are saying, "Red McCombs can kiss my ass":doublefin, and are just going through the motions since Red's tirade after the Giant game. They just haven't had any momentum since then.
Oh well, I won't give up on them yet. They won six in a row before, so it's possible that they could right themselves in these last six games and finish 10-6, which could get them in the playoffs.

Now, Kenny Nixon was picked up for DWI, with a blood level of .19
They were talking on the news tonight about how many beers it would take for a player his size to register at that level and it came out to consuming 20 beers in an hour.
It's the second offense for Nixon, he had one when he was with Miami, so the NFL will probably come down on him.

ESPN ran a Page 2 article concerning their view of the most overrated players in the NFL. Keyshawn Johnson topped the list but Hovan wasn't too far behind. Hovan was ranked 4th in readers opinion as being overrated. ESPN claims the pro wrestler image died and no one told Hovan and his stats are terrible. I thought this too but then i actually watched a d-series and witnessed hovan double teamed every play. Should this damper his ability to still wreak havoc that much? What do any of you think, I honestly think the vikes d would suffer a lot without him and that ESPN failed to recgonize what has softened his stats.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Randy Moss had only four receptions for 25 yards in Minnesota's loss to Oakland on Sunday, and the Vikings' star wide receiver was held without a catch in the second half.
In a frustrated but calm tone after the game, Moss accepted no fault -- saying that it was the job of the coaching staff to devise ways for him to get the ball.
Nobody seemed to argue on Monday.
"We're doing everything we can to get No. 84 involved," offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said. "We've just got to do a better job it."
Linehan had no problem with the comments Moss made.
"It's just frustration," Linehan said. "He's like the rest of us -- he's frustrated and doesn't like losing."
The Raiders have a strong secondary, and they made sure Moss was well-covered. Other receivers had trouble getting open, too, which partially contributed to Culpepper's three interceptions.
Oakland often had three defenders on Moss.
"It's hard ... when he's getting triple coverage just to force the ball in there," Linehan said.
BETTER DEFENSE: The scourge of Minnesota's last three losses, the Vikings' defense didn't play too poorly on Sunday -- though the Raiders had 191 yards rushing and averaged 21.7 yards per pass completion.
"Yardage numbers don't get you beat," coach Mike Tice said.
Six turnovers by the offense led to three of Oakland's four touchdowns. One of them came on an interception return, and the other two were scored on drives of 1 and 11 yards. Only once did the Raiders put together a sustained drive for a touchdown: a 74-yard march to open the second half.
"I'll tell you, we improved," defensive coordinator George O'Leary said. "The big thing is we took the coaching and accepted the coaching ... You're going to have some misplays. It's always a work in progress."
EXTRA POINTS: There were no injuries of significance to report from Sunday's game. ... Tice is scheduled to give a deposition Tuesday on behalf of Moss, who is named in a lawsuit by a traffic officer he pushed with his car last year. The civil trial is scheduled for March. ... OT Lewis Kelly, who usually wears his hair in closely cropped braids, walked through the locker room Monday with a huge, puffy Afro.

What was going right for the team has now rolled over and isnt playing dead they are dead. The front 4 was the part that was making this defense work at the start of the year. They was getting to the QB quick and making him get rid of the ball when he didnt want to. Now they lost their map and cant get back to the sideline or to there house it seems with out getting nailed over something. It is sad because Kenny Mixon was having a pro bowl year.

PASQUARELLI: RISING UP THE BOARD
Since he is only in his second season in the league, the inventive Scott Linehan might have to serve an apprenticeship of a few more years before he is considered head coach material. Despite the current slump in which the Vikings are suffering, the offense still leads the league, and Linehan continues to design a high-octane attack that features power running and a vertical passing scheme. Definitely an up-and-comer.

Two DUIs too many
Defensive end Kenny Mixon was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Nov. 18, making him the second member of the team arrested in the past six days. Mixon, 28, spent about four hours in the Hennepin County jail before posting a $12,000 bond about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 18. The Vikings' first-round choice in the 2003 draft, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, was arrested by Edina police around midnight Nov. 13. Mixon was arrested by the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department. "Now it is in the hands of his legal counsel and the National Football League," coach Mike Tice said. "I am obviously very disappointed in the actions of two of our players over the last week."
Memo to Tice....
It might be time to strap on the uniform again....

[quote]At low point, Vikings will probably rally now
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- With six straight victories to start the season after a 6-10 record the year before, the Minnesota Vikings were an NFL marvel one month ago.
Now, it seems, they're a mess.
The Purple People have been wading deeper toward disaster in the NFC North standings with four consecutive losses that have given the folks in Green Bay great hope. Then this week comes more trouble ... with law enforcement in the Twin Cities' west metro area.
It can't be a good thing when two days of bad news off the field -- the arrests for alleged drunken driving of defensive ends Kenny Mixon and Kevin Williams -- has overshadowed four straight weeks of negative on-the-field news.
Or can it?
The Vikings had their usual team meeting on Wednesday, but this week's opponent, Detroit, didn't come up too much.
Instead, coach Mike Tice stressed the need for better focus during the week and more maturity. The effort and unity of this season's club will never come into question, but there aren't that many veterans -- and a lot of them aren't guys who vocalize their feelings very often.
But all the captains, plus several other players, stood up and spoke to their teammates. This was after their head coach implored the team to keep a lid on the carousing the rest of the season and start concentrating on what needs to be fixed so they can finally win a game again.
The meeting lasted more than an hour. Quarterback Daunte Culpepper called it "the best thing we've had this year."
Know what? Bet he's right.
If the Vikings can play defense -- taking the ball away, pressuring the quarterback and occasionally making a tackle -- remotely close to the way they did during their first six games, if they can keep Culpepper's turnovers an Oakland-only aberration, and if they can continue incremental improvements on special teams, the 2003 turnaround will point back to Wednesday's meeting.
This is not at all to suggest that a win over the lowly Lions will be some sort of catapult for the Vikings to a 12-4 record, home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and an appearance in their fifth Super Bowl.
No, a 10-6 mark that breaks a tie with the resurgent Packers is probably more realistic. Who knows what happens after that, but this team WILL stop playing so poorly very soon and WON'T match last year's 6-10 record in the dubious manner of losing its last 10.
The Gipper is long gone, you say, so why should we believe that a few sage words from key players and a really tall coach are going to make a difference?
Shouldn't their backs have been pressed so far against that proverbial wall after the loss to San Diego that the struggling Raiders snapped them back to life?
How, pray tell, will this defense -- suddenly of January 2001 NFC championship game vintage -- find a way to make some stops?
Can you honestly believe Culpepper will stop throwing interceptions and fumbling the ball now that he's started?
The cynicism is certainly warranted, but there is too much skill-position talent, bulk on the offensive line, play-making ability at the safety position, team togetherness and intelligence on the coaching staff for the Vikings to fold and fall below .500.
This league is all about streaks -- for both teams and players. Just ask any one of the hundreds of thousands of fantasy football aficionados in this country who were counting on so much more than 25 yards receiving from Moss last Sunday. Things can stop going well so suddenly in a 16-game season.
It's what's been done lately that people remember, though, so everyone is having a hard time recalling the success the Vikings had in September and October.
These two days of distractions have served to remove the focus from the fumbles and defensive failures.
Provided that all the players on this team are smart and mature enough to avoid any more time with the police, they should be able to benefit from the losing streak's sudden disappearance from local sports radar. Culpepper can be shielded a bit, too, from the ridiculous calls to replace him with Gus Frerotte.
Beat Detroit and all is forgotten.

Vikings Team Report
Square one
Coordinator George O'Leary is going back to the basics to address several problem areas in the defense. O'Leary has changed the practice routine; he now is having the unit work in smaller groups early in the session, right after stretching and right before the meat of practice. The secondary and linebackers work on zone defense and finishing plays, and the linemen work on tipping balls, technique and hand movement. Previously, the defense worked as a unit, focusing on ballhawking and cohesion.
TE Jim Kleinsasser's return from a foot injury will help the passing game. He often is open in the middle of the field on 8- to 12-yard routes because the defense is busy covering other players. With improved hands and powerful running ability, Kleinsasser, 272, is a first down waiting to happen.
Rookie MLB E.J. Henderson is becoming a bigger part of the defense and will likely replace Greg Biekert as the starter next season. Right now, he is playing in the middle in the nickel package, providing speed and tackling. He also is the Vikings (6-4, 1st North Division)' leading tackler on special teams. Henderson has good lateral movement and instincts, but he still is raw and is trying to overcome injury problems, which bothered him in college.
Defensive system check
The coaching staff has adjusted alignments, communication and awareness in response to the unit's recent poor play. There will be no major personnel changes. The staff believes the defense can be productive in the final weeks and that the tweaks will in particular help the linebackers get to the ball more quickly. That will close gaps in several areas of the field.

Are you watching it, LP? I'm not getting it here in NY, but now it looks like they might actually win one...... 24-7 in the final minute and a half.
Is Daunte looking bad? I know they got those last two touchdowns on interceptions. The Lions' QB must not be playing too well...... he's thrown 4 interceptions?!

Culpepper seemed out of synch the whole game. He would look good for a few plays then throw a duck or step into a sack. I was mad cause one play he had Moss wide open over the middle but waited too long so Moss was then covered, then Kleinsasser got open down the side and culpepper waited until he was covered then he just threw a duck to moss in the endzone and got picked off. next drive he threw behind an open kleinsasser in the middle. If the D didn't show up to play they would have lost, and if the refs hadn't made a questionable penalty call the lions would have tied it before the half and gone ahead on the fumble return and the trend of the vikes are to buckle when losing.
I guess it still shows that the emotion on the offensive side is still flat. If Culpepper can't take these guys on his shoulder and get the emotion flowing they will never be able to make a comeback victory. Good thing they didn't need it today!
:clap2: to the defense!

Thank you Defense for coming back. INT's saved the day for the Vikings. Funny now the Defense was fixed this game the offense desided to crap out. Moss hurt, Williams had the ball striped, Culpepper gone the whole game (his mind wasnt there that is). Where is more run plays? Bennett looked very good and breaking a big one. This is a team that was running the ball well and winning games by running it. Now they are a pass happy offense that runs once in a while. :banghead

WEEK 12 VS. LIONS
The Vikings sent the Lions to their 22nd straight road loss. The Lions, whose last away win came on Dec. 17, 2000, against the Jets, tied the Bills (1983-86) for the second-longest road skid in NFL history. The Houston Oilers (1981-84) own this dubious league record with 23 consecutive losses away from home.
Corey Chavous and Brian Williams each returned interceptions for touchdowns late in the game.
Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak and remained one game ahead of Green Bay in the NFC North, but its offense looked just as weak as Detroit's during most of the game.
Joey Harrington completed 21 of 41 passes for 167 yards, four interceptions and one late touchdown pass to Az-Zahir Hakim. In two games against Minnesota this year, Harrington has thrown seven interceptions.
The crowd of 63,946, officially a sellout, but the smallest at the Metrodome this year, was late to arrive with a snowstorm swirling over most of the state.
Daunte Culpepper completed 20 of 30 passes for 196 yards, no scores and an interception.
Randy Moss sprained his right ankle in the second quarter and played on, finishing with four receptions for 58 yards.
Michael Bennett rushed 15 times for a season-high 73 yards.

'Dumb' penalties continue to plague Vikes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings continued to be plagued by penalties on Sunday, drawing 11 flags for 95 yards.
"Penalties are killing me," coach Mike Tice said. "Especially the dumb ones."
The violations that hurt the most came on Minnesota's lone trip to the red zone late in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 7.
Daunte Culpepper completed a short pass to Moe Williams, who ran 19 yards to the Detroit 1. But offensive tackle Chris Liwienski was called for a false start, costing the Vikings five yards.
After an incomplete pass, the officials called Liwienski for being an ineligible receiver downfield -- costing Minnesota five more yards.
The Vikings moved to the 4 before settling for a field goal.
"To move down on the 1-yard line will drive you nuts," Tice said. "We've got to continue to work on that and make sure we don't have penalties like that."
Among the other notable penalties: Randy Moss was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct call for spiking the ball on the sideline after making a 27-yard catch in the first quarter. Moss also was called for offensive pass interference.
Offensive tackle Mike Rosenthal was called for unnecessary roughness in the second quarter. And defensive end Kenny Mixon was flagged for roughing the passer after a helmet-to-helmet collision with Joey Harrington.
AGGRESSIVE OFFENSE: Moss was held to four receptions and 25 yards against Oakland last week, and he stressed after the game it was the responsibility of the coaching staff to get him ball.
Though Moss caught only five passes for 56 yards while playing though a sprained ankle, he was clearly a big part of the game plan. And the Vikings stuck with it, despite the fact that none of Culpepper's half-dozen deep throws to Moss were completed.
"We wanted to throw the ball down the field, take some more shots, and it just wasn't really there," Culpepper said. "We wanted to take a shot. That was our game plan from day one. ... We all had faith in it. We all stuck with it. That's the thing. Now we have to get a new game plan ready for St. Louis."
Moss didn't speak to reporters after the game.
Tice also made some aggressive offensive calls early in the first quarter, twice sending his offense onto the field on fourth down. Minnesota successfully converted both attempts and scored after the first.
"That's the type of coach he is," Culpepper said. "And you have to be like that."
MOE BETTER BLUES: The sure-handed Moe Williams has usually been a safe bet for the Vikings this season. But he had a costly mistake against the Lions.
Williams, who brilliantly handled starting running back duties this season in the absence of Michael Bennett, had an uncharacteristic fumble in the third quarter that led to Detroit's first touchdown.
Williams was stuffed by Detroit for a 1-yard loss on the play. Bly knocked the ball out of his hands before his knee touched the ground.
"I know I was on top of him," Williams said. "So I was trying to get away and put my hand down and keep going. He ripped the ball out."
Williams also dropped a pass on first-and-goal from the Detroit 11 late in the fourth quarter.
"Of all people, you know we all thought Moe was perfect," Tice joked. "I guess he proved today that he's almost perfect."
Williams finished with five carries for 14 yards and six catches for 56 yards.
INJURIES: Moss gave the Vikings a scare in the second quarter after Brian Walker's interception in the end zone. Minnesota's star receiver sprained his ankle on the play and hobbled to the sideline.
But the injury doesn't appear serious: Moss played the rest of the game and told Tice to leave him off the injury report.
"It is what it is," Tice said.
Rookie linebacker Mike Nattiel suffered a hyperextended knee on punt coverage in the second quarter. He lay on the ground for several moments before being helped off the field.
Defensive tackle Chris Hovan and tight end Jim Kleinsasser each suffered sprained ankles, but both continued to play.

Its already started
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George O'Leary has been contacted by Central Florida about its vacant head coaching position.
O'Leary acknowledged Monday that Central Florida athletic director Steve Orsini placed an exploratory call to him last week. Orsini was an assistant AD at Georgia Tech when O'Leary coached there.
"I'm sure there will be others that come up, too, but I'm coaching," O'Leary said, referring to his current job. "What can I do?"
Georgia Tech's head coach for eight seasons, O'Leary was hired by Notre Dame in December 2001. He resigned less than a week later, admitting he lied on his resume two decades earlier in an effort to jump-start his career.
Vikings coach Mike Tice, who played for O'Leary at Central Islip (N.Y.) High School in the mid-1970s, hired his former mentor as an assistant nearly a month after the Notre Dame news broke.

A cup of coffee stopped Michael Bennett more than the Detroit Lions did on Sunday, so the Vikings feel Bennett now is ready for a heavier load.
Bennett will start against the St. Louis Rams this Sunday and will receive the majority of the carries, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported in Tuesday's editions.
Bennett gained 73 yards on 15 carries against Detroit, but had only four carries in the second half after vomiting on the sidelines -- caused by coffee he drank at halftime.
"I'm never going to do that again,'' Bennett told the paper.
Moe Williams will handle some carries in a backup role and Onterrio Smith likely will be limited to special teams contributions, according to the report.

Ok here it is I am putting it on the table.
This week the Vikings play the Rams. The Vikings dont win if they play like they did last week. The Vikings are facing a better O-Line on the Rams and a team that can light it up.
What is wrong with Culpepper? He is missing not bad but real bad on his reads and getting it to his targets. He is not anywhere close. Dont get me wrong this guy is a good QB and is having a great year but something is wrong right now. Do you have him on a short leash and if he starts to do poor and cant get the offense clicking like it did 5 weeks ago do you pull him and put in Gus? Let Gus get out there and show Culpepper a bit on the field? I dont know I hope Culpepper gets out there and with the win last week fires him up and he is back on his game.
What do you all think of the upcoming games? We have the Seahawks, Chiefs, and Rams coming up? I think this is a team in big trouble right now. I hope last week was a get it together week and things are starting to come back together. The LB rotation they had last week looked like it worked but this week they are going to see some guy named Marshall Faulk and not the scrubs the Lions have. But on the flip side the Rams are a team in trouble it look like to. A true test for the D this week after what I hoped is a got it together week last week and now we just have to wait on the offense.

The Vikings released RB Doug Chapman on Nov. 25 and claimed rookie TE Richard Angulo on waivers from the Rams. Chapman, a third-round draft pick out of Marshall in 2000, was plagued by injuries throughout his career with the Vikings. Angulo, a seventh-round draft pick by St. Louis out of Western New Mexico, appeared in six games for the Rams this season and played primarily on special teams.
Needing an energy boost at halftime against the Lions, RB Michael Bennett reached for a cup of java, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. "They told me to drink a Mountain Dew. But I drank coffee instead," Bennett told the newspaper. "It was the first time I ever drank coffee." And perhaps the last. "It started coming up on me on the sideline in the second half," Bennett said. "I couldn't keep it down."

I'm worried, actually. I think someone has to sit Daunte down and have a good talk with him. Putting Gus in is great, but then you have to deal with the whole thing of Daunte's confidence taking a beating. But I don't know what the heck it is. I don't know if he's intimidated by what Gus did while he was out there, or what!
I think (and I hate to say this...... and maybe I'm wrong, because I didn't actually see the game)....... that last week's performance by the D had more to do with that poor guy Harrington (or whatever his name is) having a totally sucky game than it did with the Defense being brilliant. I think they took advantage of the guy's suckiness, which was good, but you can't count on that every week. :( I hope they prove me wrong and last week's win has fired them up.
By the way, did you hear Brian Williams was named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week?

I think it was both. I think with the faster LBs in on running downs it stopped the Lions from running all over them and then made them throw. The D-Line got in and was in Harringtons face so it made him throw the ball some more. The good news about that is the Lions throw a ton of screen passes and passes to there RB's so that was a tune up for this week VS the Rams.
I think the Vikings could play the D to stop the Rams. In fact the D has looked ok again vs the Lions and Raiders. It is just the offense is MIA!!!!
But with Bennett back they and them wanting to get him the ball it and I hope they give it to him alot because they still want to get Moe the ball some also so they will have to run alot which was why they was winning before and could help out the whole team again.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Randy Moss has been fined by the NFL -- again.
Moss
The Minnesota Vikings star receiver was notified by the league that he was fined $5,000 for spiking a ball at the foot of Detroit cornerback Dre' Bly, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Thursday.
Moss was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play in Sunday's 24-14 win.
An NFL spokeswoman; Vikings executive vice president Mike Kelly; and Moss' agent, Dante DiTrapano, did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press.
Moss' latest fine brings his total to more than $100,000 since 1999.
Vikings coach Mike Tice defended Moss this week, saying it was a bad penalty. Tice said Moss told him that he didn't know Bly, who pushed Moss hard out of bounds, was behind him.
Two other Vikings were fined as well. Defensive end Kenny Mixon was fined $5,000 for roughing Detroit quarterback Joey Harrington. Safety Corey Chavous was fined $2,500 for throwing the football into the stands after his 32-yard interception return for a touchdown.
What about when Bly kicked that ball? Does the league just fine Randy now after his past? I think they do you see players all the time spiking the ball and they dont get fined for it.

WEEK 13 VS. RAMS
Marshall Faulk had 108 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 18, 5 and 7 yards, and has 127 touchdowns, passing Hall of Famers Walter Payton and Jim Brown for fifth on the career list.
The Rams solidified their NFC West lead and won their 12th straight game at home.
The defense scored a third quick touchdown when Aeneas Williams scooped up a fumble by Daunte Culpepper and returned it 90 yards in the fourth quarter. Williams' 12th career touchdown was set up by the third of four sacks by Leonard Little, returning to the lineup after missing a month with a torn pectoral muscle.
Torry Holt battled Randy Moss to a standstill, catching eight passes for 102 yards -- his eighth 100-yard game of the year. Moss caught a 15-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and had 10 catches for 160 yards.
Jamie Duncan blocked the Rams' first punt since 1996, a string of 119 games, to set up Faulk's first touchdown.
Culpepper was 33-for-47 for 330 yards and one touchdown, but was sacked eight times.
Holt has 25 career 100-yard receiving games, tying Jerry Rice for the most in the first five seasons. He leads the NFL with 92 catches for 1,387 yards and Moss is second with 82 catches for 1,239 yards.
Jeff Wilkins, who entered the game with an NFL-leading 111 points, is 28-for-30 on the season on field goals and 2-for-2 from 50 and beyond.
The Rams' point total is their highest since a 48-14 victory Nov. 11, 2001, at home against the Panthers.
Culpepper sacked 8 times!?!?!?! What the hell is that!!! From one of the best lines in football?!?!?! There is something wrong here. This line looked as bad as it has for the last 4 years. Yesterday was the worst showing of that line for a long time. That line should be embarrassed that they let that happen.
Both offenses looked good at the start of the game and then the Rams made the adjustments at half and the Vikings didn’t. The Defense looked bad again no pressure by the front 4 Kevin Williams looked like a rookie. This isn’t a playoff team. Not even close. All the teams going to the playoffs this year can run the ball and run it well. And all a team has to do to win against the Vikings is just run the ball at them around them and though them.
Culpepper did look better this game when he wasn’t running for his life and was making better choices with the ball. A plus there but I think that was about it. Bennett did ok for getting most of the carries.
What happened they went from a smash mouth winning football team that punched teams in the mouth and keep hitting to a cute team that wants to get style points for winning and doing cute plays. I miss the smash mouth of we are going to run it down your throat and keep doing it and then when you move up your safety’s we are going to score with Moss on the long pass.
No argument that the Vikings O Line has major trouble with speed rushers. Rosenthal had 6 movement penalties, just trying to get the jump on his opponent. Teams are going to bring the house until the line shows they can handle it.
I am so tired of penalties. 11 yesterday. Not many teams are going to win averaging double figures in flags every game. I'm not condoning it, but at least in the old days when the Raiders led the league in penalties, and won championships, they were intimidating the other team with big hits on the QB and receivers. We get those rinky dink penalties that stall drives for us and keep the other teams going.
Where has the running game gone? If you can't chase the speed down to pass block then knock them on their butts and run over them!:bash:
Week 14
Think the team doesn't remember the Seattle game last year, when Alexander scored 5 times? If that doesn't have them fired up ready, then they are cooked like a :turkey: dinner.

Amen TC that is the drum I have been banging also. You dont run you dont win. You dont have to get 100 yards rushing (although with Bennett you will get that) But the team that runs more wins most of the time. This team has gone from the best team from the worst in one week.
And the more the Vikings run the it will open up the passing game for Moss.

Culpepper sacked 8 times!?!?!?!
I was thinking the exact same thing when I read it. Where was the vaunted O-line?! Where was his protection?!?!? And even with that, it looks like he had a better game than he has been having. Think what he could have done if he'd been protected.
And the penalties. :sigh: With nothing to show for it. You are so right, TC, what you say about the intimidating factor vs. the stinky little penalties that slow down the game. And, apparently nobody is exactly intimidated by our defense. :hmm:

Be glad you aint watching. It hurts!!! Man oh man I waited until the last 2 minutes until I gave up all hope. And I mean all hope. This is a team that right now if it does manage to sneak into the playoffs they will lose the first game and it will be bad. You know its bad when the Bears are having hope of winning the NFC north. They are 2 games behind the Vikes 1 behind the Pack and they get to play both teams once more. This started great but is ending in a ball of flames.

I just heard for the second time in about two weeks that the Vikings "might" be tanking the games because of what Red did. Sick of him owning the team they are quiting on him. Funny that its the second time I have heard that and the team was the best in the NFL nothing could stop them and they was taking the best D in the league and making them look bad, and there D was playing great they was getting pressure on the QB with the front 4.
Now nothing that looks like a good team is anywhere near the Vikings but on the other side line. They are making real bad teams look like Super Bowl teams.
Something to think about....

Well, it is pretty odd. They were looking unstoppable and tough. Then they fell apart all of a sudden and look like a different team. Coincidental that this happened right after A-hole Red McC. comes into the locker room and berates them after one loss.
Wouldn't surprise me if this were true.
I mean, it seems like aliens came and replace the really good Vikings with sucky pods. :(
Tice had his weekly press conference yesterday.
He was asked if there were any lineup changes coming. His response was, what you see is what you get. We don't really have any more options to make changes. We've done what we can do in that area.
He announced that he was flat embarassed by the game on Sunday. He still feels that the offensive game plan was sound. He said that plan was to run the ball at least 35 times and pound away. Then go to play action to spring someone deep. Unfortunately, the O Line had a subpar game and the running game died, they gave up all those sacks, plus a bunch of hurries, and they took 6 motion penalties. As he said, it's hard to execute a game plan with all that happening.
He didn't let the D off the hook either. He lamented the fact that the line couldn't put enough pressure on Bulger, and when we tried to blitz, we still didn't get to him and put our D backs on the spot. Tice mentioned that the couple of times we did pressure him, he did make mistakes.
He brought up the horrible game against Seattle last year and said that if the players didn't remember, he'd be reminding them all week.
:gt:
TC
In the paper today,Tice does mention one possible change on D, Rogers in for Crockett at LB.
Tice continued on and said that he told the team it's time for them to do their J O B S, and execute.
The biggest threat he laid on them was that anyone getting called for a "stupid" penalty would be pulled immediately from the game. I assume this is in direct response to the 6 motion penalties the offense took on Sunday.

Good about time he stepped up and made that call. Stupid penaltys is a huge reason this team has been getting killed also. And I love the call to pull them if they do that. Wake them up some. But I wonder what happens when all the players are pulled and there is no one left to go in???? :notme:

I would want the head coach for the Hawks fired if I was a fan of the Hawks!!! Has this guy watched any of the game where last year Shawn put 5 rushing td's in one half vs the Vikes? Did he watch any of the losses the Vikes have had this season with people running the ball vs the Vikes. Good old Mike did not even try to push the ball on the ground on the Vikes Defense. I dont know why. But oh well that is good for the Vikes they needed this kind of win where they looked good again.
And what have TC and I wanted these last few weeks? We wanted the SMASH MOUTH football back in Viking land. We wanted to see the O-line come out and smash the line infront of them and take control of the game. If they did that then the D-Backs would move up to help stop the run. Well today they did that and guess what they looked like a great team again. Run the ball and run it alot (you dont have to get alot of yards but with a back like Bennett and a line like the Vikes have you will get alot of yards) and you will open up the Deep pass just like they did. The scary part is that Culpepper missed about 2 or 3 wide open WR for TD's in this game also.
The young LB looked good though also. Nice to have them in and running!!!
Go Vikes!!!!

Game Notes
CUP O' JOE: TAKE 'EM WHERE YOU GET 'EM
All wins are quality wins, but this one has to be exciting for the Vikings because they played so well against a quality opponent. The Seahawks may have a woeful road record, but it's still a team with a solid defense and an impressive offense. The Vikings did an outstanding job blanketing RB Shaun Alexander and stopping QB Matt Hasselbeck from getting into an offensive rhythm. This was the type of win the Vikings should be proud of, especially in light of its recent play.
Daunte Culpepper threw three long touchdown passes, two to Randy Moss, and a suddenly stingy defense shut down the powerful Seahawks on Dec. 7 in a 34-7 victory.
Culpepper, who shared some responsibility with the defense for the Vikings' recent struggles, was 21-for-33 for 274 yards, three touchdowns and no turnovers.
Moss had eight receptions for 133 yards, including scores of 47 and 45 yards. Kelly Campbell caught a 43-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and rookie Mike Nattiel later returned an interception 80 yards for a score, keeping Minnesota a game ahead of the Packers in the division race.
Michael Bennett carried a season-high 25 times for 103 yards for the Vikings before spraining his right ankle in the fourth quarter.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I just heard that George O'Leary is going to take a job in the NCAA as a Head Coach. I heard it on KFan that O'Leary is going to Central Florida.
The University of Central Florida has scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. ET Monday where it is expected to announce the hiring of O'Leary as its new head football coach.
I expect that he will finsh out the season as the defensive coordinator for the Vikes and then who replaces him? After the past few years of a very bad D the Vikes have had some up games this year.

Michael Bennett left the game against the Seahawks with a right ankle injury. His status for next week is uncertain.
Daunte Culpepper scorched the Seahawks for 274 passing yards and 3 TDs. We're assuming the Minnesota fans didn't boo him. He's well over 3,000 total yards and has 24 touchdowns (20 passing, 4 rushing) on the year.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George O'Leary, who was forced to leave Notre Dame because he falsified his resume, will be named head coach at the University of Central Florida, a school official said Monday.
The school planned to hold a news conference Monday at 3 p.m. ET, but sports information director John Marini confirmed that O'Leary was the school's choice.
O'Leary will receive a five-year contract worth about $700,000 annually, ESPN.com has learned, more than three times the annual payout for Mike Kruczek. Kruczek was fired by the university Nov. 10 after the Knights had assured him a second losing season in six with a 3-7 start.
The Vikings and Central Florida are negotiating an arrangement, ESPN.com has learned, that would allow O'Leary to spend Mondays in Florida working in his new job. O'Leary would have to return to Minnesota on Tuesday to help prepare the Vikings' game plan and remain with the team through the remainder of the week.
O'Leary wasn't at the Vikings' practice facility Monday, and the Vikings would not comment.
Central Florida is behind in the recruiting period for making contact with high school players. The window began Dec. 1 and ends in two weeks.
O'Leary came to the Vikings after a successful tenure at Georgia Tech, where he had a 52-33 record from 1994 to 2001. He was named National Coach of the Year in 2000 and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's top coach in 1998 and 2000.
O'Leary accepted the coaching job at Notre Dame in 2001 but resigned under pressure two weeks later after acknowledging he had falsified part of his resume.
Vikings coach Mike Tice, who played for O'Leary at Central Islip (N.Y.) High School in the mid-1970s, hired his former mentor as an assistant nearly a month after the Notre Dame news broke.
O'Leary also was a coach at Syracuse between 1980 and 1986, and with the San Diego Chargers from 1992-93.

Ok with this win yesterday it made the Vikings playoffs march look stronger this week. With the Packers beating the Bears and swashing there hope for winning the div. it should have about killed all hope for the Bears. So the high flying Vikings should (I say should you never know what team will show up) should get a win VS the Bears. Then the game that I now think the Vikings can win (It will be a good game I hope at least) Vs the Cheifs in the Dome. Then the Cards finsh out the regular season for Vikes.
As the season come to an end I am going to choke down some pride and have to go for the Broncos. If the Vikings do there job and win out they dont have to worry about the Pack. But if they lose one game then the Pack is tied for first with the Vikings. (I dont know who will get the tie breaker do any of you) And that isnt good news for the Vikings. Right now they would have a home game and a week off (thanks panthers) With the Packers having the Chargers, Raiders, and Broncos I think the Broncos are the only team that stands a chance beating the Pack.
So I will have my Broncos cap on durning the last week of the season and hope the Vikes can take care of themselfs.
GO VIKES!!!

If I was a hawks fan I would be so pissed at all the coachs right now. Where was big Mike last year when the Hawks ran wild vs the Vikes last year and Shawn had 5 rushing TD's? Didnt Mike watch the games where good backs had 180, or even 200 some yards running vs the Vikes in the past 5 weeks? It was a good game for the Vikes to get everything clicking and nice to see the Vikings running the ball a ton to make the backs move up to stop them but damn why the hell didnt Mike run the ball more. You have a good back and should have had 200 some yards vs the Vikings. I think the game has passed Mike by quickly and he is not a good coach anymore. (Or was he ever and just had a great QB when he was with Green Bay?)

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Injured running backs Michael Bennett and Moe Williams are both expected to play for the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
Bennett sprained his right ankle and Williams slightly sprained his left knee in Minnesota's 34-7 victory over Seattle. Both left the game in the fourth quarter.
Bennett rushed 25 times for a season-high 103 yards for the Vikings (8-5). He probably won't practice Wednesday and will be listed as questionable on the injury report, coach Mike Tice said.
Williams might be held out Wednesday's practice as a precaution, but he'll be listed as probable.
Tight end Jim Kleinsasser is bothered by a strained right biceps, and he'll be listed as probable.

That is it the Vikings are done.
WHERE WAS THE HEART!!!!!! I saw a team that went out there thinking they was going to win and they didnt even have to show up. They thought that the Bears was going to pack it in and they showed no heart. They played lifeless. Moss had chances to make a play and he didnt do crap!!! HE DIDNT EVEN FIGHT FOR THE WINNING TD!!! This team was a joke today.
Now lets slam the refs. That was a bad bad game for the refs. Most calls vs the Vikes was so bad. They missed plays and the calls that didnt happen was a joke also. Dont get me wrong I dont think there calls would have changed the game because the team that wanted the game more and played better won the game.
One nice thing is how the Vikes slamed the ball and ran the ball but I think the only heart on the whole team today was Smith. He ran the ball and ran the ball hard and ran it good. But Moss, Culpepper the whole team had no heart!!! The Packers will in the div now with the Vikes having to play some good teams. KC and the Cards in AZ. This team is done.

I dont the Vikings pulled off there great end of year choke again only this time it isnt in the playoffs. The Packers should win the div unless they choke bad. I know I will be cheering for the (glup)broncos to hand it to the Packers but the Vikings have two tough games in the last two and with the heart they showed today they dont stand a chance. With this lack luster show they had I hope they just hand it off about 50 times to Smith and let him show what he has because he seemed the only one today to try to win the game.
Just finished watching Mike Tice's tv show.
He's not happy with:
the punter, Eddie Johnson. Three weeks in a row, he screws up
the effort Moss showed on the "free play" over the middle, and the TD catch he lost to th DB
the penalties
the refs. He wasn't happy about the challenge he lost, or some of the none calls, etc
He was happy with:
the defense, which only gave up 200 yards, and stopped the Bears when the special teams gave them the ball on the 20
Orlando Smith and the running game.
He said that the reason he didn't go for the FG when the Vikings had the ball on the 28 is that after pregame practice, the kicker and the ST coach told him that the 25 yard line was as far out as he should count on a FG being made.

Yes TC that was the big one was the Non Calls. I saw 3 grounding penalties that weren’t called on Grossman. There was those phantom holding calls on the Vikes, and it was about the poorest called game I have seen all year.
But as Tice said it still dont take away from the heart the Vikings showed or didnt show that is.

Point one. I dont know if the Vikings can Destroy the Bill State Universty of the Blind right now. Much less the Chiefs. With the 27th ranked Defense that is a tall order right now and a team that looks like it gave up I dont know I hope they do and I hope the Packers drop the last two.

I look for the Vikings to go all out to stop the run and make Green throw the ball to win the game. Other than Gonzalez, the Cheifs don't have anything special at WR. The youth movement will be in full swing at LB, as the team trys to put all the speed they can on the field.

How right you are TC they will have to have those fast LB's in there to stop the Preist from running all over them and around them. They will have to stop him better than they did Faulk that is. I think they will have to get hiped up for this game. Keep what lead they have over the Packers and keep playoff hope alive.

Well, it doesn't matter, we'll take all the support we can get!!!
It will be interesting to see what the intensity level is for this game. This summer, during scrimages against the Chiefs, there were fights, accusations of cheap shots, and if I remember right, one Chiefs player who sustained a serious leg injury on a big hit. The Chiefs players and coaches were all crying about the Vikings players hitting too hard and playing with too much effort. I know Vermeil and TIce had words, too. I'm sure both sides remember.
Now if that translates into a effort similar to the Seahawks game, (where the Vikes came in with a chip on their shoulder due to the game in 2002), it will just fine with me.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings signed punter Leo Araguz on Tuesday, but they decided to keep rookie Eddie Johnson on the roster despite his recent struggles.
Defensive lineman Cedric Killings, who has been inactive for all 14 games, was released.
Araguz, who was in training camp with Kansas City this year, hasn't punted in a regular-season game since he was with Detroit in 2001. He spent four seasons with Oakland from 1996-99.
Johnson, the Vikings' sixth-round draft pick out of Idaho State, is averaging 39.1 yards per punt - 15th in the NFC. He has mishandled a snap in each of the last three games, including a drop on Sunday against Chicago that led to a Bears field goal in a 13-10 defeat.

MILACA, Minn. -- Former Vikings running back Ted Brown was charged Friday after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at a team fund-raiser in February.
Brown, who was charged with criminal sexual conduct, didn't speak as he left the courtroom. He was booked at Mille Lacs County jail and posted bail.
Prosecutors said Brown's indictment would be the only one from the 10-month investigation that included nearly 100 interviews and grand jury testimony by Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper, running back Moe Williams and executive vice president Mike Kelly.
Another grand jury investigating a second sexual assault accusation declined to issue an indictment, prosecutors said.
Meshbesher said Brown had consensual sex with the woman and had no relationship with her until then. Meshbesher said Brown denies assaulting the woman.
"The incident in question may have been an act of indiscretion, it may have been poor judgment on the part of Mr. Brown, but was not criminal in nature," Meshbesher said.
Brown, 46, played for the Vikings from 1979-86 and is the fourth-leading rusher in team history.
In February, Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren said the 30-year-old woman claimed she rode a shuttle bus from a restaurant in Garrison to Eddy's Resort near Lake Mille Lacs.
The woman told investigators she was feeling ill and was taken to a motel room, "where she vomited and laid down on a bed. She later woke and found an unidentified man on top of her in a dark room," and had been sexually assaulted, Lindgren said

Real S.O.D.
Even before he took his first NFL handoff, rookie running back Onterrio Smith had made a name for himself. Literally. After falling to the fourth round in this past summer's draft, Smith gave himself the nickname "S.O.D." – or "steal of the draft." That bravado immediately garnered attention, but Smith is starting to do his part to back it up. His numbers aren't earth-shattering (102 carries for 551 yards) but he's averaging more than five yards per carry and has rushed for 294 yards the past two games against the Bears and Chiefs -- becoming the first Vikings rookie to rush for 100 yards in consecutive games. "I was impressed with the way he ran the football for a young guy," offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said. "He's done a good job with his role and hung in there."

Moss had an opportunity to change the outcome of last week’s 13-10 loss to Chicago. With less than two minutes remaining, Culpepper lofted a pass for Moss in the end zone, but the receiver lost the mid-air wrestling match to Bears cornerback Charles Tillman.
Interception. Game over.
Moss atoned in style Saturday with seven catches for 111 yards and two first-half touchdowns.
He declined to comment after the game, but several teammates said Moss was unusually quiet in practice last week – a sign that he was more focused.

NO HO HO
Tice was “perplexed” by the sea of red shirts in the stands Saturday, before realizing that many fans were dressed in holiday attire, not Chiefs jerseys.
“I did have some anger about that, just trying to understand the loyalty,” Tice said, “but then I realized, ‘Oh, they’re all dressed up as Santa,’ so then I was cool with it.”

Who gets the game ball this week?
For me it is Onterrio Smith. He has stepped up and has been playing great ball for two weeks now and this week was just a great week for him. Bennett better work his butt off this off season because there is a guy now gunning for his job....
Hey for all you Vikings fans out there I heard Moss set a record or tied a record for getting like 100 rec, and 1500 yards and 15 TD's for 3 years now and only 2 other guys have ever done that. Does anyone have the hard stats on that?

It looked like a dirty Cotton ball!!!!
Mike Tice said on his tv show that other than winning against Arizona, one of his goals will be to get Randy the stats he needs to become the first player in NFL history to average over 100 yards per game and average at least one TD a game.

It is kind of a bad statment but I think it is a statment to kind of fire Randy up some. Say hey you are close to doing something that no one has ever done. Not Jerry Rice not anyone you can set this record if you work your butt off and have a great game.
I think it is just something to fire him up and to get Culpepper to work. Also to make the Cards cover Moss alot more and then go deep to Cambell more. Kind of a thing to fire up the troops and get them ready for this big game.

Thank you Vikings for not waiting to lose until you get to the playoffs. What a joke all around. Bad play calling some of the worst I have seen for the Vikings this year :banghead That was a pure joke. Kick the field goal and take the points!!!! That was just awful all around. This team has no heart none at all. They only come out to play in big games. They suck to the teams that they should just kill because they think that the other team will lay over and die. Well the only team I saw lay over and die is the Vikings.
All I have to say is the team that is going to the playoffs for the NFC North is the team that deserves to go.
P.S. Red sell the damm team and get your ass out of the Twin Citys and let some real people that want to run a team right take the Vikings over. You are the joke of the Vikings.

A good fight? The Vikings started 6-0, and choked the rest of the way. They HANDED the division to the Pack on a silver platter.
If I were a Vike fan, I'd trash Red's house.

uhhh, no. well i guess one great mystery of the universe was solved today. Fate is real (AKA karma or destiny) cause what else is there to explain this. a broncos team without a playoff berth secured would beat the pack in a close game which ended up a pack blowout and then the vikes, up 17-6 lose by one. i think i jinxed them cause espn said the seahawks would travel to the dome in the wildcard game and i though, "Well the hawks suck on the road so maybe we will win one playoff game." then i left, came home, and saw the nice highlight Arizona 18 Minnesota 17. thank God the season is over so destiny didnt rear its mighty strength in the playoffs. remember the nfc championship vs the giants? or how about andersons first field goal miss in 41 attempts? or how about the 4 superbowl losses....?

Thanks PP it seems that you and I are rooting for eachothers teams and they both will never win a championship.
You are right about a good fight. The Vikings losing to the 4 worst teams in the NFL this year is not a fight at all. That is the joke and again the Vikings are the worst team in the NFL again. Losing the the 4 worst teams and not even getting the first round draft pick for that crap they showed us is even more of a joke.
Oh well I guess now we can guess how the Vikings will screw up the draft this year.....:banghead :banghead

Well it sounds like Tice is going to be history. The only question is will that #(*$ing @##hole Red pay any money to hire a good coach or will he keep trying to run this team into the ground so that he can move the team..........

According to the Dec. 29 Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis has an odd hope for future employment should he be fired, as expected. McGinnis would like to join the Vikings -- and work for his good friend Mike Tice -- as defensive coordinator. Had McGinnis taken the Bears head coaching position five years ago, he would have hired Tice as his offensive coordinator. They share the same agent, Danny More. The catch for this coaching scenario, of course: Tice himself might be fired after losing the season finale and blowing the Vikes' postseason chances with a loss to McGinnis' Cardinals on Dec. 28.

"I would expect that (owner Red McCombs) is bothered by the inconsistency -- that this team can go out and beat Kansas City to a pulp one week, then come back and play like this. To lose to a horrible team -- and the Cardinals are horrible -- in the biggest game of the year . . . obviously, the owner has reason to be upset."
-- A Vikings official, granted anonymity in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, assessing coach Mike Tice's chances for keeping his job after the Vikings fell out of the playoffs with an 18-17 loss to the Cardinals on Dec. 28.

Ok this is a team that could be great. Showen by how much they have kicked the crap out of the good teams in the NFL. Beating the Packers down Broncos, Chiefs.
A owner that is a piece of crap and does what he can to try to get this team to move to a diffenet town does he fire the Coach. Is Mike Tice leaving? I dont know after watching all the games this year (a first with the Direct Ticket) and wondering why the hell some of those play calls have been called I dont know if I would be for or against a coaching change. I just hope they would get a coach that would get the most out of his coachs and make play calls that fits this team. I would love a Jim Fassel someone that will take what the Vikings have and use the crap out of them. Fassel has done very good with a poor team for years. He would use the crap out of Jim Kleinsasser which he should be. He would use the running game so much that and with the line that the Vikings have they should be running the ball like mad and then use Moss to go deep. When the Vikings was doing bad the play calling was just awful.
I dont know, I like Tice alot but
