Hey guys,
I currently got the Diamond Mind baseball simulation game...
My goal is to start a 10 team league by drafting anyone that has ever played MLB....
Will probably be a 25 man roster and we will do a live draft on a date when everyone can make the draft.....
No rush to do this draft so we should all be able to settle on a good time for all.....
I am looking for very knowledgeable fans in baseball and the history so it will be a pretty competitive league....I will set up a web-site with the standings and box-scores of every game as well league leaders, etc....
Let me tell you a little about the Diamond Mind game and its options:
I will use all stats thru the 2002 season....
I have been in contact with a DM represenative so I am just going to copy and paste his responses in this email..
The questions in red below were my questions to him:
"You can enter either single-season stats or lifetime stats but I'd
recommend that if you want to create a player based on his career, you
prorate his playing time down to a single season. I believe some of our
fields don't allow large numbers. So if a player had 6000 career plate
appearances, knock that down to 600 and divide all his other numbers by 10."
"When you create a player, we allow you to
import his biographical info (name, birthdate, batting/throwing hand, etc.)
from a historical database that comes with the game"
"A single database can contain up to 3840 players and you can have up to 100
databases installed in Diamond Mind, but only one database can be active at
a time."
I want to do a simulated league and I was wondering about pitching
rotations. How does this work on DM?? Can I put in a 4 or 5 man rotation
and will the computer automatically go to the next pitcher on their turn or do I have to
go into every team every game I simulate and change the starting pitcher??
"You can choose the size of the rotation and which pitchers are in your
rotation and the game will automatically follow that rotation."
Also, does it recognize the use of relievers?? What I mean is, will it use
the same releiver (say I have 1 great one) every game or will it recognize
fatigue and use multiple relievers??
"Our manager profiles allow you to setup your relief roles (mopup, long,
setup vsL and vsR, closer vsL and vsR). The computer manager will use the
bullpen based on how these roles are setup and also take fatigue into
account. We give relievers relief durability ratings so some pitchers can
go longer than others. Fatigue is determined on a single game basis and
cumulative fatigue over a 5-day period."
The game will also keep the boxscore from every simulated game as well as league leaders etc.....
I will simulate games almost on a daily basis and plug in all the info to each team based on the draft....
After that, all you have to do is provide me with line-ups and pitching rotations and the situational lefty vs righty info and I will plug that in as well....
If you have any changes to the line-up (IE:player struggling) then you can just email me that info as well and I can make the changes according to your requests....
I have 6 teams already committed to playing so I am looking for 4 more...
Anyone interested please PM me....I will take the 4 most qualified requests..
Thanks,
Guru
