Not only did the Mariners not make any trades before the deadline, neither did Detroit. I was shocked to see the deadline come and go with no activity by the Tigers. True, they are hoping that young players like Inge will turn it around and be a much better hitter and well as about half of the team but that to me seems laughable. In my opinion the only players worth keeping were Maroth, Cornejo, Bonderman, Ledezma, Mears, Roney, Young, Witt and maybe German. The rest should have been traded but then again who wants any Tiger? But the effort should have been there.

Koz, you've actually answered your own question. How do we know that Dombrowski didn't try? He has been shopping nearly everyone Detroit employs since the end of last season and has found no takers. Why? To put it harshly, they stink.

The only players that might have yielded some returns at the deadline were all pitchers and, like you and Jen (Hi, Jen), Dombrowski was a bit leery of shipping them out now.

Come November 1, though, some of these arms will get moved and some hitters will be acquired. They better be.

Hi Brian :wavey:

I don't want them to trade the pitchers though. Pitching is one thing that Deroit has lacked for years and now we finally got it. Nobody is ever happy with this team no matter what. If they ARE going to get rid of some pitchers they should get rid of Rodney, he's not doing much. Bernero really needed to go, I was really glad to see him go quite honestly, I never thought I would say that about a Tiger. I also think that they really need to get Anderson back up in the majors!
