Brewers preview
Right-hander Greg Maddux usually doesn't need much run suppport when facing the Milwaukee Brewers.

In his 10 career starts against Milwaukee, Maddux is 6-2 with a glittering 1.43 ERA. And even though his numbers are slightly out of whack -- by his standards -- this season, Maddux has pitched well in five of his previous six starts.

The Brewers counter Wednesday with left-hander Wayne Franklin, who is 0-0 in four appearances, only one as a starter, against Atlanta. In his only start against the Braves on April 26, he had a no-decision in a 3-2 loss in which he allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Franklin is 0-3 with a 6.11 ERA against the NL East in this his first full season in the Major Leagues.

Players to watch: Catcher Javy Lopez leads the Braves with 30 home runs. ... Left fielder Gary Sheffield has 27 homers and a team-high 88 RBIs. ... Brewers first baseman Richie Sexson has 31 home runs and 84 RBIs; his two homers Tuesday night went 430 and 425 feet.

Quotable: "He might. He's good at it." -- Atlanta manager Bobby Cox on Milwaukee manager Ned Yost when asked if Yost would be stealing his team's signs after coaching with Cox the previous 12 years

It'd be good to see Mad Dog when 2 in a row. He does well against the Brew Crew and I'd like to see another good outing tonight by our ace. Go Braves

I really have enjoyed watching him pitch throughout his career, but I think a 4.4 ERA means the end is near.

His last 2 starts have been very impressive, he'll have that ERA under 4 before the end of the season, and possibly 15 wins...again...for the 16th straight year.
