I would really like to see the Tigers make a big move. The White Sox almost got Darin Erstad and I'd much rather have him patrolling Comerica Park than Comiskey. Obviously, a trade that big requires the Tigers to give up some talent, but I'd be willing to consider it.
The Tigers really need a CF and leadoff guy and Erstad could fill both roles. I know his OBP probably isn't as high as you would like for a leadoff guy, but the thought of a entire season with Jose Macias as their everyday CF still scares me. Macias is a nice utility player, but Erstad is clearly a step (or three) above that.
I know Erstad is on the last year of his contract, but get an agreement before pulling the trigger. This club needs several quality players and I'd like to start with Erstad.
Of course, I would also consider anyone else (ex: Scott Rolen) who would give the Tigers a legit star player. As much as I like the kids on the farm, they are still unproven. Guys like Erstad and Rolen have MLB track records.
I like the Young trade, but I would like a little more. Call me greedy. Sorry.
