That Elvis Presley died at Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tenn., at age 42.

I had just got off the train in my neighborhood, I turned on the radio and I heard the news that "The King" was gone.

:rip: Elvis Presley:rip:

my sister was a huge...I mean HUGE Elvis fan. I remember when he died only because my GrandPop had died the week before. I rermember I got up and my sister was crying and I asked what was wrong. My mom told me Poppy had died. So a week later I get up and my sister was crying again. I went to my Mom and said.." Did Poppy die again? My Mom said no..."Elvis died"...I looked at her and put my hands on my hips and said " Does this mean I have to wear a Dress AGAIN?" That's how I remember when Elvis died!

I was 7 and I remember waking up and seeing my mon and dad watching tv and my mom crying and they told me that Elvis had died...
They were both big Elvis fans....

Did you guys also know that on the same date (different year) that Babe Ruth also died??

The King of Rock & Roll and the King of Baseball ironically die on the same date.....

I was in Daytona Beach Florida on a family vacation. I remember Groucho Marx died a few days before and I was more upset over Groucho dying.
BUT everyone in Florida was acting like the President died or something. I'm surprised the state didn't shut down.

I really don't remember. I was never that big an Elvis fan. {Robin ducks and runs for cover.} Nor do I remember what I was doing the month before during the blackout.

Yet I vividly remember the evening of December 8, 1980, when another musical legend died.

16 August 1977 is an easy date for me to remember, but not really because of Elvis ... One of my sister's got married that day!

So I was attending their very small reception and getting ready to head back up to college.

Rockin' R --- Same with me, I tend to get more melancholy over Lennon than Elvis ... You can take cover in the Astros Forum; nobody ever goes in there!:D

I was in Helena Montana at the National High School Rodeo Finals when I got the news. There was definent reaction by all but nobody broke down and cried or nothing like that. He was an American Idol and he left quite an impression on a lot of people.

Long Live The King!

I was thirteen months old. :ugh:

It used to be where were you when you heard about Kennedy.
Then it was the moon landing.
Then the Challenger.
Then 9/11.

Defining a generation or two.......:(
