GOOD MORNING, BOILS AND GOILS!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY! We got our brand new car yesterday after being without a car for a month and a week!!!! Our previous car was totalled right on our driveway back on July 14th. That dumb young lady who borrowed her friend's car allowed a ten year old girl (may be related to the car owner's even though the last names of two little girls are different) and ran through stop sign before turning left (our house is on the corner) and jumped the curb to run across our backyard and PLOWED right into our parked car which it spun twice before laid rest against the shrubs. Two shrubs and some part lawn were damaged badly, too. Our oldest son saw the whole thing while he was walking down the steps of the deck when he was going to sit in the driveway to get a better reception for his cellphone. He was so pissed. BUT we're relieved that he wasn't hurt at all. (Imagine if he went there a few seconds earlier, he'd be either killed or seriously injured). We finally got a check from the insurance after pulling its teeth for nearly three weeks. Another check from that same insurance company will be on way anytime this week or next week for the property damages. So we shopped around for the car for the past two weeks. A first car we fell in love with was too steep for us since the loan wasn't approved. So we kept looking another car (yeah, it's same car dealership because it's nearest one that we could walk down.) We settled on the car we love so much and two days later, we got approved. We picked it up yesterday afternoon.
Our car is 2003 Saturn ION 1. It's a silver exterior with very light gray interior and even has CD player that delights our kids. :D

 Glad no one was hurt in that crash! WHAT KIND OF IDIOT LETS A 10 YEAR OLD DRIVE A CAR!? :banghead
Saturns are good, reliable cars. My wife owned one for six years and had NO problems with it, besides the regular stuff. She traded it in at 110,000 miles. She now drives a P.O.S. Ford Explorer.

That is an amazing story about your son. He was being watched over that day.
Sorry to hear about the car. Saturns are the worst, I would never recommend that car maker to anyone. But you bought one!!! I have had my wifes mistake since 1997. The only reason I still drive it is that it is paid off, and the gas to drive it back and forth to work is cheap enough. Other then that the car is a piece of you know what. Without any doubt every 3 years the alternator will go out on you. I have replaced 2 of them so far, almost exact to the day the alternator went out. The starter went out after 2 years, which took out some other part with it, anyway cost $800 bucks outside of the dealership to fix. Dealer wanted almost double for the same work. I do hope you have better luck, but I plead that no others buy these cars!!!!

Babs my wife is also drivin that P.O.S. Explorer now. I am hoping to trade that death trap in for a Maxima this year or early next year. But I am also likin that Caddy CSX I think is the name. Did you have to get the tires changed on the EXPLODER??? That is what we call them now FORD EXPLODERS!!!

Thanks, boils and goils! TXRanger, I can understand why you don't like Saturn. I don't blame you because you had been there and done. Strangely enough, my ex co-worker owns her Saturn since '97 or '98 and has no problems with it. My daughter bought an used '98 or 99' Saturn and loves it so much. No problems with it, either. Go figure. :notme:
But we've been through pure hell with our '95 Mazda Protege (that's one which was totalled last month) ever since we bought it as a brand new car and had series of problems with it ever since. I wouldn't recommend on Mazda ever again. We had three ars ('76 Corolla, my hubby's first car as a graduation present and Cressida which I don't remember the year) Those three Toyota cars ('76 Corolla, my hubby's first car as a graduation present from his parents, Cressida, don't remember what year but it was an used car though and '88 Corolla hatchback, I think) They were great but very expensive to maintain though. We hate Ford (we call it, "Farty Cars" :D) even though we had an used Ford Pinto hatchback or small station wagon briefly because we hated it so much. We swore that we'll never get any "Farty" cars.
So we hope this Saturn will be better for us, HOPEFULLY. :)
But hey, thanks!

Her Explorer is a big pile of crap! Every little thing that can go wrong with it has: Power windows stopped working, the radio was going on and off on its own as were the wipers, the rear wiper died, the front passenger seat broke, something broke inside the passenger side door which resulted in a constant rattling. There have been "real" problems as well. Luckily she got the extended warranty which has helped BIG TIME. NEVER AGAIN will we buy a Ford. She wants a Pathfinder or an Xterra. We actually do need an SUV because of our recreational lifestyles.
She had the exploding tires replaced the day the recall was announced. Her recall was in the final batch. She ordered tires herself and had a Ford dealer put them on. Stupid Ford.
Sorry your wife had such a bad experience with Saturn. My wife has no complaints about them. Well, at least we agree on the EXPLODER. :clap2:

Congrats on getting most everything back to normal, Misha ... New cars are cool no matter what they are.
Weird how some brands/makes do well for some and are utter nightmares for others ... My dad's had excellent luck with his Dell Computer; my experience with Dell was poop ... I've driven Ford trucks for the last 14 years and have only encountered two small electrical problems (a solenoid on the fuel pump in my little Ranger and an anti-theft relay in my present F150), but Baboon and Misha have had bad experiences overall with their Fords.
Go figure. :smokin:

Babs those wipers are a car flaw I believe. Ours go off on thier own too. And the back wiper has never touched the back window at all since we bought it. I have had that truck at the dealer so many times I have lost count. The car was actually dieing on us if we didn't let the anti theft light turn off before we started it. SERIOUSLY. It rings out loud 4 times once you put the key in the ignition and don't have your seatbelt on yet, then we can start the car. I am looking forward to getting the EXPLODER off our hands and into a new car very soon. Plus the 70,000 mile warranty just ran out, I know more problems are coming soon.
Misha I do hope you have good luck with the Saturn. That ION was designed with help from the Germans, it looks nice. Kinda like the VW's, passat and others. Have fun in it.
