I just got into a league and need some expert help. Unlike a lot of other leagues, our league is strickly based on TD's only (and kicking of course). 6 pt pass, 6 PT catch, 6 PT run. NO YARDAGE BONUS.
Shouldn't this make me lean a little toward a very strong QB on the first pick rather than a very strong RB on the first pick. This goes against everything I've read, but all of those scoring systems only give 3 or 4 pts for passing tds.
I'm in a 16 team league where I pick 4th. Let me know in order who you think the top 4 powerhouses are with this scoring system.

Not necessarily. One of the sites I use has a TD only cheat sheet. They project 16 QBs with 25 or more total scores. (And 25 with over 20 total TDs). The RB position has only a total of 14 players scoring in double digit TDs. Last season only 12 RBs scored 10 or more TDs.
If you miss out on one of the top RBs by taking a QB with the fourth pick by the time it comes back around to you in the second round you'll be seriously hurting at your RB position.
With the fourth pick it's not worth taking a QB that early even in TD only leagues. You'll still get good value if you wait.

thanks for the help...what site are you looking at?
my dad was in this league last year and the first four picks were faulk - warner - garcia - manning. 3 out of 4 qbs. im still worried all descent qbs will be scraped by the time i get the 29th pick in round two.
if i do go rb, im going to look hard at another rb if theres another out there in round two. i should still be able to pick up the same caliber qb on the way back around.
i love thinking about this, because i know as soon as the picks start flying my "plans" will fly right out the window. :freak:

yeah draft day can be like that! The key is stay as close to your plan as you can...of course that's easier said then done!
One last thing for you to look at about why it's better to take a RB. The #1 RB (Tomlinson and Alexander) are projected to score 20 TDs, the #20 RB is projected to score 8 TDs. But remember only the top 14 are projected to have more than 10 TDs.
For the QBs the #1 is projected to score 33 TDs (McNabb, 27 pass, 8 rush) while the #20 is projected to score 23 TDs. But QBs 4 through 20 are only seperated by 6 TDs.
Anyway make sure you let us know how things go! And I hope I didn't muddle it up any worse for you.
Good Luck!

you like tomlinson and alexander over williams, portis, faulk, and holmes?
i kinda like williams #1 espically if he can shake the injury bug of previous years.

Not sure if it's luck or what but the closest I've been to the #1 pick is I had a #5...and got lucky when Holmes fell to me. In another I had #6 and got Portis.
Just remember projections are nothing more than opinions with numbers attached to them:D
But in the one's I was using, all those players you mentioned are within 3 TDs of each other. One player also up there is Duece.
Last week I did a Expert IDP 20 team league draft...24 rounds! course we only had 90 seconds for our picks so I had to throw out the pizza and just settle for the

mmmm, pizza and beer, I'm gonna have a lot of the latter tomorrow night, and as for your draft, I don't really have any advice at this time, too tired, maybe tomorrow

Be sure to snag a short yardage back like Moe Williams or Zack Crockett in the later rounds before someone else does.
