You guys may not know, but today is Jimmy Fund radio-thon day in Boston. The Red Sox have run this charity for cancer kids for 60 years.

It's a big deal here, and every year celebs and athletes call Boston Sports radio and donate $$.

Guess who just called? STEINBRENNER!!!!!!!!!!

Said he was SICK over Ken Coleman's death, and DONATED $10,000!!!!!!!!!!!

He said how great the Sox are for doing the Jimmy Fund, and he told some great stories! He said CARLTON FISK was his favorite player, and how when the Sox/Yanks rivalry got ugly in the 70's, It was Fisk and Coleman who would call GEORGE and they'd work things out!

He said he LOVES Boston, loves the Rivalry, and hopes it continues forever!:cool:

I have to admit, the man may NOT be the Devil after all.:eek: :angel:

It's nice (and somewhat disturbing) to hear a classy side to George.

Yesterday was the annual event. Stein just called Boston Sports radio and said he was sorry he missed it, but here was his usual $10,000 contribution. :thumbsup:

I guess once a year I'll be saying something nice about him. :D

Torre donated money, too. I believe it was $25,000. :)
