Hi everyone. Because of the recent news of Chad Pennington's injury, I figured I'd try to take advantage of an opportunity in my fantasy league.

First, here's my team. It's a 10 person head-to-head, with most points coming from yardage and touchdowns

QB: Donovan McNabb
Back-ups: Michael Vick, Tommy Maddox

RB: Travis Henry
RB: Eddie George
RB: Troy Hambrick
Back-ups: Larry Johnson, LaMont Jordan, Jerome Bettis

WR: Joe Horn
WR: Chad Johnson
Back-ups: Quincy Morgan

TE: Doug Jolley
Back-up: Kyle Brady

K: John Carney

DEF: London Fletcher
DEF: Sam Cowart
DEF: Chad Brown
Back-up: Chris Claiborne

I realize I'm kinda thin on WRs right now, but I'll figure that out later. What I really want to do is get another premiere RB, and I think I have an opportunity here with Chad's injury.

The guy who had Chad as his starter also has Tom Brady, but more important has Clinton Portis. I was thinking about offering Donovan McNabb and one of my lesser RBs (Hambrick, maybe Bettis) for Portis.

Just wondering what people think. Is it worth trying? Is Maddox a good enough QB to last until Vick is back? And is Vick still going to put up the same projected numbers after his injury?

it is a risk going with just Maddox until then, but I think your RB corp needs it, being a Bills fan, I love Travis Henry, but he's not enough to carry your team, Eddie George hasn't been the same in years and Troy Hambrick? I hope you weren't banking on him putting up great numbers, the rest of your backs are backups on their own team, you NEED a guy like Portis at this point, especially if your league starts 3 RBs, I would also advise dropping one of the LJ twins and picking up a stronger WR to backup Joe Horn

Yeah I agree. Nothing ventured nothing gained! Might want to also look at the roster for the owner of Holmes and see if he doesn't have a WR you might be able to get for L. Johnson.

Also with only 10 teams there should be another QB or two on the FA list that can be a good backup for Maddox, until Vick comes back.

The question on Vick about his projected numbers being the same I'd go with worst case scenario and not expect them to be. I think we should be happy with whatever we get from him (I have him in a keeper league).

I went ahead and made the offer. McNabb and Hambrick (to help the deal) for Portis. I can pick up either Harrington or Kitna as a back-up to Maddox until Vick is back. They're the two best QBs left right now, but you never know if someone else comes storming out of the gates.

In order to help my fledgling WR corps, I offered Chad Johnson and Jerome Bettis to a guy with Isaac Bruce. I figure he might actually take it since he already has Warner at QB and Faulk at RB to thin out the number of Rams players, and he has Zereoue so I'm trying to convince him with some insurance in Bettis.

I also took your advice grunt and offered up Larry Johnson to Priest Holme's owner for Marty Booker. But now I'm thinking Robert Ferguson might be better (who he also has)? People's opinions on Booker vs. Ferguson?

Booker is better than Ferguson, Booker is definately the number 1 in Chicago and is a very safe bet, Ferguson is fighting for #2 with Javon Walker (who I think is better) and has no shot at taking over Driver for the #1 spot, but I doubt he'll give you Booker for Johnson

Ferguson has been named the Packers WR2.
With Booker I think the question isn't how good he is, it's how much will having Kordell as his QB effect his numbers?

I know Ferguson has been "named" the number 2 WR, but I think Walker is better and could overtake him early in the season, Booker is a very safe bet IMO, his numbers shouldn't suffer at all with Kordell, I don't like Dez White as a #2 and David Terrell hasn't done anything near his potential

Still no activity on my McNabb and Hambrick for Portis, or L. Johnson for Ferguson (I figured that had a better chance of succeding). But I was able to trade Chad Johnson and Jerome Bettis for Isaac Bruce. Probably helps this guy a little more, since he has Zereoue, but this guy also never makes trade unless he's getting more out of it, so I hedged my bets and threw in Bettis.
