CARDS DEAL BROOKLYN EXTRA-INNING LOSS
Augusta, NJ -- The Brooklyn Cyclones overcame a five-run first inning by the New Jersey Cardinals, and sent Sunday's game to extra innings. However, New Jersey scored in the bottom of the 11th inning to walk off with the win.
With the score tied at 7-7, NJ's Jose Virgil led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a single for the Cardinals. Casey Grimm then walked and Melvin Falu followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Virgil to third and Grimm to second. Billy Schmitt then drove a ball over the head of Brooklyn centerfielder Jon Slack to score Virgil and give the Cardinals a 8-7 win.
Rashad Parker continued his hot streak for Brooklyn, going 4-6, and raising his average to .291 on the season. Jon Slack, Ian Bladergroen, and Aaron Baldiris all had multi-hit games.
The two teams meet again on Monday, in Brooklyn, as the Cyclones kick off their final homestand of the 2003 regular season.
I will be out at Keyspan park for five games in four days, tonight; tomorrow night; two games on Wednesday (day/night seperate admission doubleheader) and Thursday night :D
