Brooklyn fell victim to the Cardinals’ bats again on Monday, losing 11-2. New Jersey set the tone early, with a seven-run first inning, chasing Cyclones’ starter Matthew Lindstrom. Lindstrom entered the game with the fifth-best ERA in the New York-Penn League, but struggled in his 13th start of the season.

Joe Mather highlighted the first-inning scoring with a grand slam off Tim Worthington, after Lindstrom had left with the bases loaded.

Brooklyn tried to rally back with two first-inning runs of their own, thanks to back-to-back walks by Jon Slack and Rashad Parker, an RBI single by Aaron Baldiris, and an RBI double by Brett Harper.

New Jersey tacked on four more runs in the fourth, capped by a three-run homer off the bat of Melvin Falu, over the left-field wall.

Brooklyn threatened to have a big inning in the sixth, and scored two more runs, but a double play with the bases loaded ended the threat. The Cyclones added one more run in the seventh, thanks to a sac fly RBI by Ian Bladergroen

The Cyclones and Cardinals wrap up their season series on Tuesday at KeySpan park, with gametime set for 7 pm.
