'CLONES SWEPT BY CARDS

Brooklyn dropped a see-saw game on Tuesday, in 11 innings, by a score of 8-6. The loss was the third in a row for the Cyclones, who are now tied with Williamsport for first place in the McNamara Division, with nine games to play in the regular season.

Jon Slack and Brett Harper each had two RBI, and Aaron Baldiris and Ender Chavez drove in a run apiece.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 1-0 lead, and then scored two runs in each of the second and third innings. New Jersey rallied back, though, and sent the game to extra innings.

In the 11th, Jose Virgil doubled off the left field wall to bring home two runs off Greg Ramirez, and Brooklyn could not respond in their half of the inning.

The Cyclones take on the Hudson Valley Renegades in a day/night doubleheader on Wednesday, continuing their final homestand of the year.

There was this player who the New Jersey Cardinals brought up from their rookie team the Johnson City Cardinals by the name of Frisella, listed in the starting lineup. I waited by the visitors dugout during batting practice to find out if Frisella was related to former Mets relief pitcher from the late 60's early 70's the late Danny Frisella. Sure enough, he said that him and Danny were cousins.

Cyclones Playoff Tix Go On Sale

Tuesday Aug 26, 2003

BROOKLYN'S FAVORITE BASEBALL TEAM MAKES RUN AT CHAMPIONSHIP

Brooklyn, NY - For the second time in their three seasons at KeySpan Park, the Brooklyn Cyclones are headed to the playoffs. Playoff tickets will go on sale Monday, September 1st at 9:00 AM at the KeySpan Park box office and via phone at 718-507-TIXX (applicable phone service charges apply). Ticket availability will be limited. The Cyclones have sold out all 38 home games at KeySpan Park this season so demand for playoff tickets is expected to be high.

After a 76 game season, the best-of-three divisional playoffs will start on September 5th, followed by another best-of-three series for the League Championship. In addition to three division winners, a wild card team will also qualify for the playoffs. The team with the better regular season record will be given home field advantage in the relevant series, playing the second and third game of the series in their ballpark.

"We are excited about making the playoffs this year. The team has played well and the fans have been incredibly supportive. We hope to be able to bring home another championship," said Steve Cohen, General Manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The Cyclones are currently 2 games ahead of the Williamsport Crosscutters in the McNamara division, and have the second best record in the league.

The Brooklyn Cyclones are the Class-A affiliate of the New York Mets. In their inaugural season the team compiled a 52-24 record on its way to winning the New York-Penn League Championship. In 2002, they followed up by breaking their own Short Season Class-A attendance record with 317,124 fans. Former New York Met Tim Teufel is manager for the 2003 season. The team plays its home games at KeySpan Park, the 7,500-seat stadium in Coney Island. Ticket information is available by calling either 718-507-TIXX or 718-449-TIXS, and by visiting the team's website at www.brooklyncyclones.com
