In 1952 the Pittsburgh Pirates had a pitcher at Bristol TN in the (I believe) Class D Appalachian League who pitched a perfect game, striking out 27 batteres. He was called up to the Pirates that same year and won one while losing six -- who was he?

Did you know that 8 days after his 27 K performance that he struck out 24 in a game vs Kingsport???

I remember that second game now that you mention it but didn't Bristol also have another pitcher who later went to the Pirates but pitched a nohitter or one hitter the day after Necciai?

And while you are at it, remember the two feared sluggers in the Pirates farmsystem who were with the New Orleans Saints in the old Southern Association? Both made it in Pittsburgh

Lee, not sure who the other pitcher you were referring to is.....Also not very familar with the Southern Association at all....
I am only 31 so unless I read about it or see a documentary on it I don't know much about it....
I love hearing of your stories though so keep them coming.....:biggrin:
