First game was tonite... 50-0 win!!!! Dominated those T-Birds!!! Our QB had 6 rushing TDs.....team had 3 or 4 INTs.... near the end of the game we started chanting for our Freshman QB Nick Argrove to play and he had his helmet on and was talking to the Head Coach but they didnt play him :(

Highlits-A kid "Crowd Surfing"... he got thrown out by a security guy... had 3 or 4 people on him in about 5 seconds :D

Seniors threw bouncie balls toward the top of the student section... we did our job by throwing them back at the cheerleaders.... several hits :D

Dance team was dancing and did a move where they sit and then kick back there leg or something... pretty much pulling the skirts back... drew loud aplause from student section at that point :D

Great game!!! Next week we play Omaha Central and one of the TOP CB in the nation in Courtney Grixby

Shada runs wild, ties record

John McCardle left the Millard North offense in good hands.

And good feet.

Adam Shada's first eight carries as the Mustangs' new starting quarterback resulted in five first-half touchdowns to spark the state's No. 1 team to a 50-0 season-opening football waltz past Bellevue West Thursday night at Buell Stadium.

Shada equaled Judd Davies' school record of six touchdowns, rushing for 196 yards on just 15 carries in a dazzling display in only three quarters of work.

He let Mustang fans know Millard North has a more- than-adequate replacement for the all-everything, all-state McCardle, now at Kansas State.

"Shada looked as good as any quarterback Millard North has ever had," Bellevue West Coach John Faiman said. "He may be the fastest one out of all those guys."

In just one game as a varsity quarterback, Shada did something McCardle, Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch and none of the other outstanding running quarterbacks from Millard North were able to do when he found the end zone six times.

"It's an honor to play quarterback at Millard North," said Shada, a senior. "I am just doing my best to follow in the footsteps of all the greats that came before me. I am just trying to put wins up."

After gaining a combined 9 yards on his first two carries, Shada broke loose for scoring runs of 16, 8 and 86 on his next three attempts.

Shada, who has committed to Iowa, lost a fumble on his next carry but quickly redeemed himself with touchdown runs of 15 and 14 the next two times he touched the football.

That gave the Mustangs a 37-0 lead at the break.

"We knew Adam was ready to play this position, and he showed it tonight," Millard North Coach Fred Petito said. "He did not exceed my expectations, not at all. He has the total game. He has the same poise and discipline the other guys had. And he obviously is a great runner."

Shada capped his memorable debut by adding a 5-yard scoring run late in the third quarter, spinning away from a tackler before lunging into the end zone.

Shada showed off his excellent speed on the 86-yard TD, sweeping left end on an option play. He darted through an opening and then cut up the left sideline, galloping untouched into the end zone.

As if the season opener was not enough motivation, Shada popped in the tape of the Mustangs' controversial 7-6 state championship loss to Lincoln Southeast Thursday morning for a little extra incentive.

"You don't live in the past, but you don't forget the past," Shada said. "We still have that game on our mind. I watched it again to remind me of what we play for and where we want to get back to. We want to finish it this year. This was the first step."

The Mustangs amassed 436 yards, all but 27 on the ground.

"I think they are better than they were last year," Faiman said.

Shada credited an offensive line led by massive 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle Seth Olsen, a Nebraska recruit.

"Shada was awesome tonight," Olsen said. "There is no dropoff at all going from McCardle to Shada."

Overshadowed by Shada's performance was a superb showing by the Mustang defense, which held the Thunderbirds to 12 total yards and finished with four interceptions.

"We knew defense would be the strong point of our team," Petito said.
