Let's all give a big hand to the Brooklyn Cyclones even though they lost in the championship round. And let's say congratulations to Williamsports's rightfielder Anthony Bocchino who is from Brooklyn. BTW, Anthony Bocchino's dad works at Keyspan Park and also Shea Stadium as a security guard.

Here are a few photos of Anthony Bocchino

WILLIAMSPORT TOPS BROOKLYN IN EXTRA INNINGS TO WIN NYPL CHAMPIONSHIP

Brooklyn, NY -- September 10, 2003The Cyclones 2003 season ended on a sour note on Wednesday night, as they lost Game Two of the New York Penn League Championship Series 4-3 in 11 innings to the Williamsport Crosscutters.

The win gives Williamsport the 2003 Championship, an honor the teams shared in the 2001 season. With the loss on Wednesday, the Cyclones finish the season with a 49-31 record, including an appearance in the Championship series, their second in three years of existence. The Cyclones jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jon Slack led off with a walk, and raced around to score from second on Aaron Baldiris' one out single up the middle. Williamsport tied the game in the third, when Milver Reyes scored. They then took a brief lead in the top of the sixth, when Mike Cockrell hit a lead off home run off of Cyclones' reliever Yusmeiro Petit.

That lead would not hold up for long, as the Cyclones bounced back with two runs, in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. Baldiris singled again to lead off, and scored all the way from first on Matt Watson's double into the right field corner. Pinch hitter Blake Whealy executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Watson to third. Tyler Davidson- who came for Ian Bladergroen after he broke his thumb in a collision in the third inning- then smashed an RBI sacrifice fly to left, giving the Cyclones a late lead.

Williamsport bounced back and tied the game in the seventh, when Nyjer Morgan scored on a Cockrell single, after he reached base on a fielder's choice. Brooklyn reliever Robert Paulk threw 3.2 innings of one hit ball to keep the game tied. His previous high for the year was a two inning appearance earlier in the season. The game would stay knotted until the 11th, when Williamsport scored one run with two outs off of Brayn King to plate the eventual winning run. The Cyclones battled all night, but could not muster one more run to send the game further.

Current Mets secondbaseman Danny garcia throwing out the first ball last Wednesday at Keyspan Park.

GARCIA RETURNS TO BROOKLYN

Danny Garcia will always be remembered as the first Cyclone to reach the major leagues. On September 10th, he returned to Brooklyn to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, before the Cyclones' championship game. Earlier that afternoon, Danny took his first major league baseball card picture, and hit his first major league home run. Just a few hours later, he donned an honorary jersey with his old number six and took the mound at KeySpan Park to complete the whirlwind day. As the PA announcer set the scene, the crowd roared for Garcia, who strode out to the hill. "I was more nervous there than during my first big-league at-bat," he said with a laugh. In both cases, he delivered...a hit in his first AB, and a strike for his first "first pitch."
