First of all, there is no way in hell that Detroit needs Weaver again! He's a scum sucking leach!

I say we keep Higgy... but the others here probably agree with you.

I have been to a couple of different boards and it is always the same. Everyone thinks that Bobby Higginson is so great. Well fact is, he is just mediocre. He is not worth the millions he is getting at all. He had one decent year and that was it. He has no trade value for the money he is getting. He is not an improvement over what most teams have. If Bobby Higginson played with the 1984 Tigers he would be the one sitting on the bench. I believe that most of the Tigers problems are rooted in him. From what I have seen of him is the fact that if management makes a change he constantly complains. More likely he complains to the press. Higginson has over stayed his welcome in Detroit. It is time for the Tigers to move on and get rid of him.

I am in the "Trade Higgy" camp, as well. reprap has given some of my reasons: I think he could use change of scenery, as could the Tigers. I think his contract is prohibiting the Tigers from making moves to improve themselves.

I also think his production will continue to decline if he stays in this losing enviroment. I think he is mentally drained from the years of losing. I agree he's not an all-star type player, but he is better than what his numbers show currently.

When you factor his age, declining numbers and contract, I think it's time for Bobby to accept a new role in a new city. It's a change that I believe will benefit both parties. The first problem is to get him to waive his no trade clause this off-season.

I think this might actually be the first time I ventured into the Tigers forum, but when I saw the "Trade Higgy" thread under new posts I just had to see if Jen went ballistic!!!

You dissapointed me Jen!!! ;)

Thanks, Jen. You can always rant about Higgy here. We all understand your passion for the guy. Your support is admirable. I only wish he would play up to your lofty aspirations.

Thanks Brian! Much appreciated :)

oh and about Higgy... you and me both buddy! But you gotta think about how much he's played hurt this season. He's a lot better than this numbers suggest

Is Higgy really better than he is showing because of injury or is this all he has? The guy is to worried about looking cool and he can't do both, like Rickey Henderson pulled off so well. The Tigers could have had a real team if it wasn't for Higgy's contract. Guys like Rickey Henderson at $350,000 was a bargain the Tigers passed on. Lofton, Reggie Sanders for a Mill a season could have happened. Even Rueban Sierra should have been signed to fill some holes here. Higgy should have been traded while people think he is better than he really is, Even himself.

How do you figure he's just out there to "try to look cool?"

Go ahead and TRY to give me some proof on that one buddy

I'd like to see you pull your hamstring and then run around and play Major league ball with the big boys! I'll tell ya something, it's a lot easier to sit on your ass and watch a tv and critisize then it is go out and prove that you got the balls to do what only few can do!

I just love the elementary stuff calling people lazy that you have no idea about . Show me the proof that I sit on the couch and judge. I sit on my bench press pumping 300 lbs and know I'm a better ball player than alot of thes goofs of today. And for your proof ,Higgy gets a double and gets stranded as he walks off he looks at me and the people around the third row and says I did what I could do, great team player! he loafs around hurt or not thinking his skills are superior and he doesn't have to hustle. He never has hustled out ground balls since he became a Tiger and has failed to help out any youngsters on this Tigers team because he is all about Bobby. Thats just my opinion with out all the childish antics. It's only Sports.:nut:

That's all bullpoop! (outta respect for the other members of the board I will refrain from swearing).

Higgy is one hell of a team player and a nice guy on and off the field. If you walked up to the man on the street and asked for the shirt off his back, he's the kind of guy who would give it to you. He's a class A gentilmen. I dunno where you see that's he stuck up and all about number one cuz that's the furthest thing from the truth. Ask anyone who has ever MET him. You don't know him, therefore you can't judge him. Furthure more, you are new here. I like to give new people the benefit of a doubt, but the fact that with your very first post you insulted another member and began a person attack upon him leaves me with questions as to your character and your entire reason for being here.

Isn't he the guy that didn't help his teammates Weaver and fick when they were being out numbered and beat down in a brawl. Great teammate. And get your facts straight about who I insult, I'm not childish like you I just ripped the Groin site not the person. I can dislike a spammer can't I?:lust:

ok, I'm chilish whatever. You don't know me so that really means nothing.

The thing that got me is if you are supposed to be a Tiger FAN (at least one would assume since all your posts have been in the Tiger forum), why are you ripping on them and thier players and fans all time. Show me one postive post that you posted and I'll shut my trap.

I do love the Tigers and Wings but i do take the blinders off from time to time. We all have are own opinions and that's cool. I dig a good argument just as much as the next guy if we can keep it civalized. I don't like guys like HomerJ running his web site off of others and talking about nothing but their site. If you popped over to the www.detnews.com tiger talk site you would see what I mean. Take care buddy, And don't get me wrong I can deal with it if Higgy stays and I'm sure he would change his attitude with some winning and a better surrounding cast.:drinkin:

Yeah, I remember it. Wasn't that hit off of Damion Easley's bat? Geez, this has been a bad year. Thanks for the reminder, Guru.

Anyway, back to the Bobby mess. I'll be honest, I cannot figure Higgy out. There are times I think like Shady. He's a whiner, a quitter, too self-centered to be of any use. His attitude is pathetic and it rubs off on all of his teammates. Even when he had good hitters around him, mostly notably Juan Gonzalez, he complained about his more productive teammate. Even when the Tigers offered him a way out, he passed. If he likes it so much, maybe he should stop complaining.

Then there are times, I lean towards Jen's thinking. Yeah, he's depressed, but look what he's been stuck with. A terrible team in a horrible hitter's park. A career filled with losses and lies (courtesy of Tigers' ownership), that wouldn't make me a very happy camper, either. As for his ability, put him with some good hitters and see what happens. His best season came with Juan Gone in the lineup.

The truth, as usual, probably lies in the middle. He's a hardworker, you don't go from Temple baseball to The Show by being lazy, but the years have taken their toll. I think he can be very nice and down to earth, but making that much money for that long changes about 99.99 % of people. Higgy isn't immune to thinking the world of himself. I don't even pretend to know what kind of person he is, but he's probably like us (good days, bad days and disillusioned about his employer) but with lots more money.

It's just time for both to part ways. I think he's still got a few good years left and if Higgy can still be productive here great, but I think a change is necessary for everyone's interest.

I'll have to step on Jen's toes a bit as well. I'd like to see Higgy loooooong gone. Each new year I hope and wait for Higgy to get better, get healthy, get happy....but it never happens. Now I'm hoping that he'd get lost. With a salary like his, and his recent level of production, he's going to be nearly impossible to trade. Maybe we should have just released him like we did when nobody wanted Damian Easley. Take the salary hit and be over with it.

Sorry Jen. I am just thinking of ways to improve my favorite team. :notme:
