Fan Appreciation Day concludes Sept. 21

A tradition that began in Veterans Stadium's first year of existence will conclude on Sunday, Sept. 21, when the Phillies host the Cincinnati Reds at 1:35 p.m.

It will be the final Fan Appreciation Day in the history of the Vet.

All fans will receive a replica of Veterans Stadium, courtesy of PECO Energy.

Among the prizes that will be given to fans:

A 1971 Buick Skylark convertible.

First base from the game on Sept. 26.

Participation in the first ball ceremony on each of the last three dates in Vet history, Sept. 26-27-28.

First base autographed by Jim Thome.

Second base autographed by Placido Polanco, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley.

Third base autographed by Placido Polanco and David Bell.

Autographed bats, caps and baseballs from Phillies players.

Two tickets to the 2004 opener at Citizens Bank Park.

Autographed Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton bobbing heads.

Pair of seats from Veterans Stadium.

Golf for two with John Kruk.

Dinner for two with Greg Luzinski.

Scholarship to the 2004 Phillies Baseball Academy, courtesy of ESF and the Phillies.

$250 gift certificate for M.A.B. Paints products.

The chance to:
--Announce the lineups on Sept. 26.

--Be an honorary ground crew member for the game on Sept. 26.

--Hold a Fleer card representing a member of the All-Vet Team during pre-game ceremonies on Sept. 27.

--Stand on-field with Phil and Phillis for the Anthem on Sept. 27.

--Dance with the Phanatic in the 7th inning of the game on Sept. 21.

--Dance with the Phanatic in the 7th inning on Sept. 28.

A Phillies tradition started in 1971, the giving of memorabilia and prizes to fans. Some lucky fan will walk away with the grand prize (a 1971 automobile) on this afternoon.

Friday, September 26
A Field of Memories Event
* Last night game in Veterans Stadium history.
* Pre-game introductions: Phillies scouting and player development personnel.
* Stadium lights are turned off for the last time.
* Final post-game aerial fireworks show, a Veterans Stadium tradition, courtesy of MAB Paints and Tastykake.

Saturday, September 27
A Field of Memories Event
* The U. S. Navy Leap Frogs will parachute into the stadium, their sixth and final appearance at the Vet.
* Phillies All-Veterans Stadium team will be introduced pre-game.
* All fans will receive a Philadelphia Phil and Phillis dual bobbing head doll, courtesy of MAB Paints and Tastykake.

Sunday, September 28

However, tickets still remain for the other two "Final Innings" games, 9/26 and 9/27.
September 28 - A Field of Memories Event
* Final regular-season game in the 33-year history of the Vet.
* All fans will receive a lanyard to hold their Historic Final Vet ticket, courtesy of MAB Paints and Tastykake.
* Phillies final lineup card to be presented by managers Bowa, Green, Ozark, Fregosi, Owens.
* Post-game: an emotional show featuring the 2003 Phillies and an endless parade of Alumni...the last time the players will touch home plate (fans urged to bring cameras and handkerchiefs).
