I hardly can believe that the last game of the season has been played by the Mets. It's strange, almost as if Mother nature knew the Baseball season was coming to an end the rain came and now have been pushed out by a cold front. There's a chill in the air, the leaves litter the ground, all there colors making my street look like an ugly old carpet from my grandparents era. The skies have taken on that Fall, gray, cloudy look to it, Almost reminding you that snowy days are ahead!!
I put to rest the 2003 season; a season of countless sweeps, 6,7,8, game losing streaks, injured players who watched from the sidelines and others who limped there way through the game, new names replacing the old and high hopes that came crashing down. I can easily say good bye 2003 as I look ahead to a much brighter future!!

I'm with you, Kath! It was sad watching the final game today. Trying to find things, just like Fran Healy and Ted Robinson were trying to find things. Guys setting their own little personal records. I so wanted Jay Bell to hit a homerun, since it's obvious he's planning on retiring. It was so sweet seeing all the guys gathering around him in the dugout afterwards.
It was also cool seeing how they all responded when Mike Glavine got his first major league hit! In his last at bat! The guys in the dugout were all jumping up and down and cheering! That was very cool. It looks like these guys all like each other....... I hope alot of them are with the team next year.
It'll be an interesting off-season!

I missed all that dugout action, since I was sitting [alternating between] a row or two behind the dugout! Woo-hoo!!!! Did anyone see me on tv?? ;) I had a nice chat with Matt Loughlin before the game.
It certainly was bittersweet. The season has ended. Sigh. But at least there will be several more weeks of baseball, even though it won't be our boys playing. It's still baseball. Then maybe I'll get ESPN Classic.
Too bad they ended with a loss. But this time last year I was quite depressed. Now I'm not. I've seen the future, and the future looks good!
