Just like I still don't think Clemens was trying to hit Piazza with the broken bat three years ago, I really don't think Fick was trying to hurt Karros ... Both of his shoulders go up when he makes that final lunge-step for the 1B bag ... You go racing down the 1B line and hold both of your hands by your side while you make a lunge like that ... So I think the contact was accidental, but I do think the umpires got the call right in the end, and accident or not I'd have called Fick for interfering and called him out even if Karros hadn't held the ball long enough.

I stand corrected on this one ... The noted in last night's broadcast that Bobby Cox fined Fick for the play, so either Cox saw some intent on Fick's part or he exacted a confession out of the redhead ... So in the words of our Cubs comrade Raybo, "Fick sucks donkey balls."
