I'm new here, so I thought I'd take the time to explain at least a little about my signature. How about the "Coffee is for closers" part.
Has anyone here seen Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Alan Arkin and Alec Baldwin? Well, this is where it is from, and is one of my five all-time favorite films. This might set off a movie debate and well...that might not be such a bad thing! I figured, this is an off topic forum, so I hope that this thread isn't shot down too much. Just bored, so I thought I'd put this up and see what the reactions are...if any.

'Blake', played by Alec Baldwin, telling 'Shelly Levine', played by Jack Lemmon, to "put...that coffee...down", that "coffee is for closers only".

Unfortunately I've only seen bits and pieces of the movie. But I can definitely understand that line.
And we do have movie discussions from time to time. It's probably been about two weeks or so since are last one. ;)
So what are your four other favorites?

Oooh, I have so many. I'm definitely an old movie buff.
Almost anything Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, or Cary Grant (except Westerns).
I'm a huge Hitchcock fan, and Billy Wilder.
Singin In The Rain
Gone With The Wind
The Princess Bride
High Anxiety
Animal House
So many others that I can't think of right now. I just *love* old movies.

Hehe, don't hate me, but you seemed to have great taste in films...until you listed specifics! Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, Billy Wilder, Hitchcock...hard to go wrong there.
But then, Princess Bride and Gone With the Wind?? nooooooo!
Ah well, at least we can agree, more than likely, on old movies not named Gone With the Wind!

Hey, Princess Bride has a huge following on this site. Don't be dissing it too loudly!!
But give me a choice between that and, say, To Catch A Thief, Bride goes bye-bye!

:hmm: Paul, darling, you're waaaaay too old to be liking those kinds of movies.
Jen, I too love Holiday Inn.
I still can't remember what movie I was thinking of yesterday. But Roman Holiday is another good one. How could you go wrong with Carey Grant and Audrey Hepburn! Arsenic and Old Lace is another great one!

I could watch that one over and over and over. They just don't make them like that any more. It was quite risque for its time. Lots and lots of double entendres!

Any history class that would have showed me Dr. Strangelove would have been my immediate favorite of all time.
Oh...and count me among the critics of Princess Bride. Cute movie, but can't ever be included among great films like Dr. Strangelove or My Man Godfrey for instance.

mmmm.....can't argue with that last statement. Definitely great, but not what one would call a classic.
