Win orlose tonight, it was a hell of a season. We won more then the so-called experts thought we would win. We went farther then the general public thought we could. We knew we could do it, but they didn't believe.
And don't think we're going to be one-and-done either. These guys are for real. Returning next year will be our big 4 starters, the beef of our lineup(Sosa, Alou, Patterson, Ramirez), and Dusty Baker.
And while our divisional rivals all seem like they will be slashing payroll and our friends to the south will be struggling to simply keep together what they have now, we will do nothing but improve. After a record-breaking attendance year and 2 rounds of playoff baseball, look for Jim Hendry to add about $15 million to our current payroll of $75 million. Expect a lineup with some more pop, and don't be surprised when you hear about some big names going to Chicago.
A World Series this year would be great, but if we do it this year, it will be the first of many!
