Worst managerial decision off all time. I just got home. People are INCENSED! If he shows his face in Boston, HE MIGHT GET KILLED!

Seriously. I'm listening to sports radio, they want him dead.

SICKENING. What more can you say.

Somehow, I must shower and work.

Grady left Pedro in far too long. He blew the game, period.

And I mean this sincerely, if he is NOT fired, I'll never watch another game.

he made an even worse decision than dusty.

you have a three run lead going into the 8th. the bullpen was hot, so go to them.

pedro shoulda never been out there, or at the very least, pulled after the first hit.

First off, congrats to the Sox for doing as well as they did ... Nobody expected them to beat the A's or to take the Yanks to the 7th game of the ALCS ... Amazing postseason in my book.

And an amazingly STUPID decision by Little ... Anyone with a little baseball sense about them could see that Pedro was tiring in the 7th when Big Gumby took him deep a 2nd time ... Why in the world did he choose that game and that situation to make such a radical departure from his usual quick moves to the bullpen?

Still, it was a great series and Sox fans really have nothing to be ashamed of after the heart the club showed in both rounds of the playoffs.

I was so shocked when he didn't go to Timlin. They showed him out there ready in the pen just looking like "PUT ME IN COACH!!". I think it was a bad decision that he is going to play over and over in his own mind enough to know it was a bad move. It was sad to see it end for the Sox. I was captivated by this series. I have grown to like the Sox scrappiness. They played the Yankees tough. It would have been great to see the Sox and Cubs in the series, but I am now rooting for the Marlins to beat them Yankees. We will see.

Way worse than Dusty. There is a HUGE banner in Boston that says KILL LITTLE!

Him and that Cub fan should leave town tomorrow.

I'm listening all day to WEEI Sports radio. I'm just waiting to hear that Grady is gone.

Technically, his contract expired last night. So they in effect have already fired him.

Here's (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2003/columns/story?columnist=caple_jim&id=1639994&partnersite=espn) today's article from Jim Caple.

This part is particularly appropriate for this thread: ...Boston fans will spend this winter and the next winter and the next winter and probably every other winter of their lives moaning about the Curse of the Dumbo, Grady Little, their soon-to-be ex-manager of the Red Sox.

I like that Pedro stands up for Grady:I wouldn't put Grady on the spot like that whatsoever,'' Pedro said. "I am the ace of the team. I wasn't thinking about pitch counts then. That is no time to say I'm tired. There is no reason to blame Grady. He doesn't play the game. We do. I do. If you want to blame someone, blame me. I walk out there. I'm responsible for the pitches I make in the middle of the game.

Grady did a great job throughout the season. I don't think it's fair to blame Grady for the decision made out there

But Caple says it best here:Yes, it is. No starting pitcher as good and as competitive as Pedro is ever going to say he is tired and isn't strong enough to continue. That's why you hire managers to make the decision for them.

Argh...I'm not so angry right now, just mentally drained.

Caple is RIGHT ON. THE EFFING MANAGER IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE AN EFFING CLUE! HE'S SUPPOSED TO SAY AFTER THE 7th, GREAT GAME PEDRO! WE'RE GONNA CLOSE IT OUT FOR YOU!

Damn it! I slept, I have energy. I AM MAD ALL OVER AGAIN!

sorry P.P but it wasn't Little fault, you gotta understand that Pedro has the control of Boston. If he wants something, they'll get it for him right away, with no, if's, and's, or but's.
Pedro wanted to stay longer, he taught he could have finished the game, i understand!
Little would have taken him out, but when a pitcher has control of everything, he decides. and that's what happened pedro, wanted to stay, and little couldn't argue.

The mistake was that they should have gotten a more experianced coahc, and have Little as assistance.

And where was NOMAR!!!!!!!!! He should have done something in the series, and he did NOTHING!!!NOTHING!!!!
played only one game good, when he went 4/5!!

Has there been any news conference or written statement from Little as to why in god's name he left Pedro in the game? I would love to know the thought process behind that lame a$$ move.

Blue56

Because pedro has control of everything. Pedro wanted to complete the game, so he told Little, he wanted to stay. Pedro has control of Boston!

I don't agree with that...

If Pedro is in charge of the game then he should be a player/manager....

That decision should have been Grady's decision and no one elses.....

Thats why you hire a manager.....

you know thinking on it, a manager has to rely on his ace to tell him when he's tired. Someone like Pedro or Randy or Curt or even Prior all know their bodies. So if a manager asks him, he should expect the truth. a veteran ace has that responsibility. Honesty is more important than gutsiness sometimes.

if pedro said he's tired and i need to come out, i have no problem with that whatsoever. He's earned that right.

that is usually handled best between innings, of course. It wasnt just the tiring pedro that was the problem, it was leaving him in there to face lefties that was the really dumb move.

You have to understand, that whatever pedro wants, pedro gets. Did you ever listen to the radio when there talking about pedro or boston. that's what it is. It's because, He's there ace, without him, they'd wouldn't be amazing, they'd be good, but they need an ace like Pedro.
So since they treat him, with white gloves, and whatever he wants, he can take advantage.

I understand that but that doesnt mean I agree with it....

Why the hell waste money on a manager then???

Get someone in there with the balls to manage a team and make the tough decisions...

Thats not a players decision IMO....I dont care WHO it is.....

They wouldnt be amazing but just good?? If they were amazing then they would be WS champs....
So I ask, what have they done with Pedro and what would they do without him???
No player should have that kind of control....

Oh for Christ Sakes people it WASN'T PEDRO'S DECISION!

Pedro admitted he thought he was done in the 7th. He put his coat on! He hugged everyone! He was SHOCKED as hell to be out there in the 8th.

The manager is paid to do what is best for THE ENTIRE TEAM, not just the stars. And leaving Pedro in for the 8th was a godawful idea.
