WTF????

This is what I got.

BREAKING SPORTS NEWS: The Celtics have traded Antoine Walker and Tony Delk to the Mavericks for Raef LaFrentz, Jiri Welsch, Chris Mills, and Dallas' 2004 first-round draft pick, according to the Dallas Morning News and radio station WEEI-AM. -- Developing

I like LaFrentz, but isnt Chris Mills like a million years old?? And how in the world is Dallas going to be able to afford it? And how are they going to play him? This is too strange. I dont like it. The only good thing that I see out of this is we free up cap space. That is all. Im soo unhappy now.

isnt raef an underachiever? that doesnt sound good. of course i dont see him throwing bricks up with 10 seconds left in a game either. lol

might provide some muscle inside.

i really dont understand it from the Mavs point of view. what do they need another scorer for? to score 180 points a game?

strange deal all around.

Werent they always trying to get rid of Walker? This blows in my opinion. Cant imagine him in another uniform, but then again, Im use to seeing Milloy in a Buffalo's uniform by now.

Mavs get Walker from Celtics in five-player deal
By Associated Press, 10/20/2003

DALLAS -- All-Star forward Antoine Walker was traded by the Boston Celtics to the Dallas Mavericks in a five-player deal Monday.

Dallas is sending Raef LaFrentz to the Celtics along with Jiri Welsch and Chris Mills. Boston also will get Dallas' first-round pick in 2004. The Mavericks will get guard Tony Delk from Boston.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed the deal to The Associated Press, saying it was pending league approval. Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss would not confirm or deny the trade.

Walker, who averaged 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds last season, will split time in Dallas with All-Star Dirk Nowitzki and Antawn Jamison.

Walker, 6-foot-9 and 245 pounds, has played all seven of his NBA seasons with the Celtics after being drafted out of Kentucky following his sophomore season.

A good dribbler and passer for his size, Walker often was Boston's primary ball handler in recent years because his team was weak at point guard. Walker led the Celtics in assists the past three seasons.

He and Paul Pierce combined for nearly half of Boston's points during each of the past three seasons -- 51.1 percent in 2000-01, 49.8 percent in 2001-02 and 47.6 percent in 2002-2003.

Walker had been the subject of trade rumors immediately after Boston's second-round playoff loss to New Jersey. But Danny Ainge, who was hired as the Celtics' head of basketball operations in May, said he had no intention of trading Walker.

Delk, a part-time starter for the Celtics, will give the Mavericks more depth at point guard behind All-Star Steve Nash and Travis Best, another offseason acquisition.

LaFrentz signed a $69 million, five-year deal before last season. Welsch and Chris Mills were acquired by the Mavericks in an offseason trade that also brought Jamison from Golden State.

I never like Walker, he was a loafer, pretty selfish, and slow. Raef may be an underachiever, but at least he can play D

This deal was purely to dump Reaf's contract. He is paid wayyyy tooo much for what he brings to the floor. HE SUCKS HARD. He does not play good defense, he doesn't rebound, and he gets in foul trouble early in the game causing him to sit for quarters at a time.

In my opinion I think this trade is for depth for the Mavs. We used to go through stretches last season where Nash and Dirk were off due to being played too much. And Walker can help in those games with his scoring. Plus I heard Michael Finley and Walker are best friends off the court. So that brings good chemistry right from the start. Good move for the Mavs in my opinion.

Plus if it just doesn't work, Walker could be traded near the mid season deadline, who wouldn't want him???

Who WOULD want him? I mean, yes, he's an All Star, and I love Antoine, but no one would want his contract.

If Kobe goes to jail then the Lakers might be needing some scoring!!!

I think that Kobe is in trouble up there in Colorado. That state has a mandatory jail sentance if he is convicted of raping that girl.

And good luck trying to dump that LaFrentz contract. He is so much worse then Walker. He is making an outareous amount of money for his numbers. If you guys can live with the 5 RB's per game and 10 points at best, then more power to you. You will miss Delk off your bench too.
