View Full Version : Who do I keep?

I've got some tough keeper decisions, so I have come to all of you for suggestions. I'm allowed to keep six on my roster. At this moment, I'm thinking of keeping Shawn Green, Jorge Posada, Rafael Palmeiro, Trevor Hoffman and Bret Boone (yes, I know he will NEVER do that again, but 2B is a tough position). Plus, I also get to keep one rookie and that would be Carlos Pena. Basically, I have one spot left.

The most notable players remaining are: Mike Lowell, Kenny Lofton, Chan Ho Park, Jon Lieber, Rick Reed and Jeff Shaw. The rest of the roster looks like this: Womack, Ibanez, Payton, VanderWal, Guiterrez, Ochoa, Febles, Caminiti and Estrada.

So I return to my original question. Who do you think I should keep? Feel free to offer suggestions changing any of my decisions. BTW, it's a 5x5 league with twenty teams.

Normally, I am much more secretive about these sort of things. Especially realizing that three of my fellow competitors are mods here. However, these decisions will be known to all in a month, so I can afford such openess now. Later, I'll just be blowing smoke around.

Peña doesn't count towards the six. From what Bill told me, there are 6 keepers and then one rookie keeper.

Using that, I'd probably keep Lowell and Lieber.

Park is an injury waiting to happen. So I agree to let him go.

I believe you are correct, I get one rookie in addition to six vets. However, Raffy, Green, Boone, Posada and Hoffman make five. That only leaves me one spot for either Lieber or Lowell.

Brian, I would love to help you out.. but I have this sneaky suspicion that it is in the league that I was in last year.... That would be sort of like Dave Littlefield giving Dan Duquette advice..

Yes, we are in the same league. If you don't wish to share your opinions on my initial move (not even some good natured misleading info?), than how about letting me know what your roster looks like? I'm trying to get an idea of what I am up against.

As for the Duquette comment, I am appropriately offended. Although, I think he knows more about fantasy baseball than I do. Problem is he knows more about fantasy baseball than real baseball, too.

hmm.. well... I don't have my roster in front of me, so this is going off of memory.

My offense includes

Thome, Giles, Nomar, Cliff Floyd, Wooten, Mcgwire (although he is retired obviously) I forget who my other outfielder was... might have been magglio...

My pitching staff was somewhat weak. Only thing of note really was Keith Foulke, and Joe Mays tha I can remember. IOh.. and I think Bohannon. I finsihed 12th in the league last year, but injuries had killed me. Nomar is a free Keeper since he spent so much time on the DL. Same with Bohannon. Seems to me I had one more DL keeper. Maybe Dean Palmer.

My one big thing Trots, not to give away too much since I am competing against you, I agree with Park...Not sure if he will be injured but I think he is going to be a major flop in the AL, especially in a hitters park like Texas......
I think you will see his career decline.....

Oh keep Feebles, he's a great player!!! Just kidding, hate giving advice here to a rival:2guns: !!! But I just can't Help it!!

I like Lowell the most over Lieber (though a close race, cubbies might have something great this year). But I have a sneaky suspiscion that 3rd basemen will be at a premium come draft time. I can vouch for Chipper not being available and I am sure a few others will be taken as well.
