Tentative Spring sked announced
By Ken Mandel / MLB.com

PHILADELPHIA -- More than a month before christening Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies will begin the post-Jack Russell Memorial Stadium era in Clearwater, Fla.

On Thursday, March 4, the American League-Champion Yankees are scheduled to visit the Phillies' new -- and still unnamed -- 7,000-seat ballpark. It will be the first home game played somewhere other than Jack Russell since 1955.

The Philllies have 15 of 29 home dates in Florida. Their new park is located across the street from the Carpenter Complex, about three miles from Jack Russell Stadium.

The Phillies play the Yankees five times, three at home. The other two dates are March 15 and March 25. The Phillies travel to Legends Field on March 5 and 30. The NL East-Champion Braves visit March 12.

The Devil Rays and Blue Jays, who train nearby, visit for two of the three meetings between the respective clubs.

The Red Sox, who fell just short of advancing to the World Series, make the long drive north from Fort Myers on March 8.

Tickets for the Spring Training games go on sale in January. All but two of the home games begin at 1:05 p.m. ET. The games on March 24 against the Blue Jays and on March 29 against the Tigers begin at 7:05.

The Phillies close the Florida portion of the exhibition season on April 1 against the host Blue Jays. Shortly after that, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt will begin his first managerial stint and guide the Clearwater Phillies.

The Major League club is scheduled to return to Philadelphia for two exhibition games, tentatively scheduled at Citizens Bank Park on April 3 and 4.

They begin the regular season on the road. The home opener is April 12 against the Reds, and the rest of the schedule is expected to be released soon.
