Scott Spiezio, Derek Lowe, Todd Walker, Bartolo Colon, Esteban Loaiza, Frank Thomas, Raul Ibanez, Eddie Guardado, LaTroy Hawkins, Shannon Stewart, Edgar Martinez, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Ben Grieve...Of course that was just the tip of the ice berg and most of their teams will resign them before they go on waivers but the Tigers need to start somewhere.

There are also several Japaneise hitterswho sound really good. That SS, Kaz Matsui will problably go to San Diego or another high spending team this offseason, but i've heard of several others who have pretty good credentials.

The problem with the Japanese league players is that there is a fee just to get in the negotiations with them. I cannot see Tigers ownership coughing up money just to talk to a guy's agent. I also suspect most of the Japanese players are bound for West Coast teams as #1 points out.

They have a team option for $5.0M to sign him....


I havent heard them picking up the option as of yet....
