well, why not. As good a place as any to say how i'm feeling right now. I'm not sure why, but this hurts as much as 2001 right now. And losing in Yankee Stadium just feels so wrong.

There's a lot to be discussed now. Torre. has the Boss lost patience? And there's bound to be some activity over the winter with free agency.

Boone sucks. Yes, he'll go down in Yankee history alongside Chris Chambliss and all for his game winning shot in Game 7 of the ALCS. But he sucked. Ventura would not have let us down as Boone has, either offensively or defensively. With runners on base, he looked hapless with the bat. Very, very disappointing. I'm not just second-guessing Cashman on this one, I didn't like the trade at the time, and I don't like it now.

Weaver being on the postseason roster was inexplicable. The way he pitched all season long was nothing short of horrifying, and his poor form all year long was treated far too leniently. He should have been gone months ago. To bring him in to such a crucial point of a World Series was baffling. I've said it before, but i'll say it again. If Weaver is still a Yankee come Spring Training 2004, i'm done.

Soriano becoming an automatic K for much of the postseason, let alone the World Series, was undoubtedly a factor. Posada, who for me, was our MVP, particularly in August and September, couldn't get going either.

Ironically, Bernie, who traditionally hits pretty poorly in WS games, was great with the bat, as was Jeter. But it wasn't enough.

There was some other positive aspects to our series, but they're not foremost in my mind at this moment in time. I'll discuss them at a later date. Right now, i'm just too tired to think.

I guess it just wasn't to be.

Giambi is getting surgery pretty shortly. That's why I will not criticize him. But you're right, there are others. We'll get to them. :2guns:

Thanks Ray. I hope to enjoy a beer with you someday. :D

This hurt.

Seeing Sori crying in the dugout hurt.

But for some reason I'm okay. This wasn't as bad as 2001 for me. I don't know why.

I'm not disappointed in the Yankees. Maybe that's because I'm in a daze right now. I just can't be mad at them right now.

The Marlins beat our Ace. They beat our best. Beckett pitched out of his mind. They deserved to win this series.

It looked almost as if we weren't even trying. Hitless with runners on base. An error that led to a run. That game was everything bad about our season, crammed into nine innings. The only thing missing was a shaky middle relief.

This was the Angels series all over again, only a little more subdued.

We actually pitched well this time, only the Marlins pitched better. Hit better. Played defense better. Hit in the clutch better.

Let's just be happy we beat the BoSox in the ALCS. Had they made it they would have swept the Marlins.

They tried, they failed, but I still love them. Maybe I'm still on the Boston high or maybe all my emotions have been drained out of me, but I can't be mad at this team. I honestly expected them to lose to the BoSox in the ALCS. They showed all the heart in the world to scrap out that win. I can't be mad at them. I'm just emotionless right now.

Andy didn't deserve the Loss. He pitched amazing in such a pressure packed game. Had we won the series he would have probably been the MVP. George better give him whatever the hell he wants.

I really hope George doesn't go ballistic and start firing/trading people left and right.

I hope Joe stays. Putting in Weaver I still think was one of the dumbest moves he's ever made, but overall his managing this year has been good.

Boone has sucked in the World Series, in every possible way there is to suck. But I'm giving him a free pass since we very well may have lost to Boston if it weren't for his homer, as lucky as it may have been. Nevertheless, he and Sori were continually topping each other for "Worst At Bat Of The Century" against Florida.

I REALLY hope they do SOMETHING about Weaver. I wouldn't trade him, since he would bring in at best a bag of dirty, soggy socks. I hope they send him down to the minors and just totally redo him. I hope to see him next in 2005.

Sori looked absolutely awful in the World Series. He was swinging and praying he made contact. But he did show up for Game 6, 2-3 with solid defense, but that one time when he did make an out was the one time when we needed him to get a hit. Seeing him crying in the dugout did it for me though. There's no way you can convince me that he doesn't have heart or that he doesn't care.

Such a horrible way for Jorge to end the season. He DRAGGED us through the regular season, only to bomb in the World Series. Fitting he made the last out. I just feel bad for him right now.

Bernie, Hideki, and Jeter carried us through the World Series. We may have been swept or lost in 5 if it weren't for them.

This should be an interesting offseason.
Sori to the outfield?
Torre to stay?
Pursue Vlad?
Who replaces Clemens?
Who's our new batting coach? (because Down is gone)
Who's our new pitching coach?
Boone to be traded?
Bernie moved from CF?

My one hope is that Andy stays.

Look...we were outplayed by a team that we are better than on paper.

How can you not be impressed with the Marlins. These guys got heart. As sad as I am, I cannot help but feel that these guys wanted it more and deserved it.

I'm really hoping Beckett is wearing pinstripes next year and I will wager that George is already working on it.

This guy was unbelievable tonight. Legendary. Im very impressed with what this team accompolished this year and cannot say a bad word about them

As a lifelong Yankee-hater, I'm pretty happy right now, but as a baseball fan I'm troubled by the treatment of Soriano. Players go into slumps, sometimes at inopportune times. I'm not happy that the AL batting champ (Mueller) sucked in the playoffs, but I'm glad he's coming back next year. Yet in NY, there's talk of dumping Soriano. Crazy.

Oh, and someone should explain to Steinbrenner that winning the AL pennant is an accomplishment. Can you imagine working for that guy? Sheesh. It should be an interesting offseason.

Mike, welcome to Addicts.

Agreed, Soriano being booed is just wrong. Maybe not being a New Yorker contributes to this opinion, but I just think that it's uncalled for. And talk of trading him is just ludicrous.

It's now been 3 years since the Yankees last won the WS. I fear that Steinbrenner will go crazy pretty shortly.:(

The talk about trading Soriano is absolutely insane. Probably people talking with thier hearts and not thier brains. We're so lucky to have a player like Sori and I really look forward to watching him throughout his career.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but perhaps beating Boston in the ALCS will subdue George's rath? :notme:

Your the best James:luvkiss:
Any talk of trading Sori is just stupid..he was pressing..he got into a slump..cut the kid a break. If anything he might need a little coaching on being more patient and not swinging at the first pitch and pretty much anypitch that's way outside..but God..cut the guy a break.

Giambi..my god..give the guy a break..he can hardly walk on that knee and he's out there trying..can't ask for more than that.

You guys know I loved Robin but he wouldn't have made half of the good plays that Boone did..yeah ok, he sucked batting except for some key at bats..but I truely think we got him for his defense and hoped a good bat would come along. Can I mention that I think he did pretty good being he hadn't really seen much AL pitching up until the end of July when we got him???

Will Joe be back..hell yeah..George isn't stupid..will Cashman be back..doubt it..his trades weren't that great and he made the all time worst trade..you guys know who I mean..to tired and hurting too much between no sleep and the god damn rain to get into that one.

What we need...Starters..Andy..they gotta resign him and give him pretty much whatever he wants..1. cuz we desperately need him and 2. cuz he deserves it. Moose..that's a lock..Boomer...that's a shakey one cuz hell he is 40 and his back is really bad..Jose..he'll be fine. Do we want beckett??? Well, if we get him great but be prepared of being accused of "Buying" players as usual.
Bullpen??? Thank god for Mo..and pray Karsay will be back and as good if not better than he was..we do need more help big time!!!
Ok, those are just my thoughts..I'm goona take a lot of drugs and try to get some slep!

Hey 11, I need to know something. What drugs are you on, and can I have some? :PPsmilie:

How can you possibly think that the NYYs will get Beckett next year? First, he's not a free agent. And he won't be for a while yet. Second, the Yankee farm system is bankrupt (Steiny traded your last good prospect for Aaron Boone, remember?), and I cannot imagine what they could give the Marlins anything that a) the Marlins want and b) they can afford.

Besides, as Pops says in another post, this is an example of why so many people have so little use for Yankee fans. This feeling of entitlement that you can have anything you want permeates your entire beings and pisses people off big time. It does not help you win friends or influence people.

But, for the rest of you, I want to say that I'm sorry you're in pain, but I'm forced to say that I'm not sorry for the reason. Unfortunately, that's the best I can do, given the circumstances. ;)

Who wants to bet me that the yankees put a deal on the table to get Beckett. I know GS and I know how he thinks. He will definitely make a move.

I agree with LeiterFan, getting Beckett is a fantasy. Just like getting K-Rod was a fantasy last year. If Florida is gonna deal thier young, up-and-coming Ace and Playoff Hero, then they don't deserve any fans. No way Beckett's traded.

the weaver trade was made by george. not brian.

giambi is starting to look like Bic Mac at the end of his career. if his knee is this shot now, whats it going to be like in 2 or 3 years?

soriano is a third year player. he should be smart enough to make some adjustments.

boone will be alright next year once he makes the adjustment to AL pitching.

beckett? dream on. wait until he is a free agent.
