NEW YORK (AP) -- As David Justice circled the bases Sunday, he wound up circling right back onto the disabled list.
His left groin reinjured, Justice will miss the next two weeks, going back to Florida for more rehabilitation at the Yankees' minor league complex. New York manager Joe Torre wasn't sure whether Justice would be sidelined for more than two weeks.
''It's the pushoff leg,'' he said. ''That poses a problem.''
Justice originally got hurt June 14 while running the bases against Montreal. He was 0-for-3 Saturday, then doubled in the second inning Sunday and ran gingerly while scoring on Scott Brosius' sacrifice fly. Justice then came out of the game.
He had an MRI exam Monday and didn't want to discuss the results before consulting with the Yankees' medical staff. Justice wasn't in the clubhouse following New York's 7-1 win over Tampa Bay, which completed a four-game sweep.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the latest strain was less severe than the original.
''He'll feel probably like he's ready to play in the next four days,'' Cashman said. ''He'll go back to Tampa and try it again.''
Justice, whose spot on the roster was filled by the recall of Clay Bellinger from Triple-A Columbus, is hitting just .246 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs. Last year he batted .286 with 41 homers and 118 RBIs for Cleveland and the Yankees, who acquired him during the season.
When he walked into the Yankees' clubhouse after batting practice following an MRI exam, Justice was wearing a loud red, white and black shirt and a bandanna,
''My incognito outfit,'' he said.
Derek Jeter, sitting a few feet away, couldn't resist poking fun at the ostentatious attire.
''They won't notice you in that,'' he said.< ^Notes:@ RHP Christian Parker, on the disabled list since the second week of the season because of right shoulder pain, is to have arthroscopic shoulder surgery Tuesday. Dr. James Andrews will operate in Birmingham, Ala. ''He's not responding,'' Cashman said, ''They're going to open him up and take a look.'' Cashman said Parker's shoulder still felt weak. After winning the fifth starter's job in spring training, Parker made one appearance with the Yankees, allowing seven runs in three innings against Toronto on April 6 in his major league debut. He went on the DL three days later.
