ATLANTA -- If Andruw Jones ever gets that Silver Slugger Award he wants, he'll have to find to find a way to place it around the six Gold Glove Awards that now exist in his trophy case.
But Jones' impressive collection still pales in comparison to the one compiled by Greg Maddux, who for the first time since 1989 was not presented with a Gold Glove when the National League recipients were announced on Wednesday.
Maddux, who had set a record for pitchers with his 13th consecutive Gold Glove last year, was beaten out for this year's award by Braves teammate Mike Hampton, who committed just one error in 68 chances and started four double plays from the mound this year.

When Hampton was acquired from the Rockies last year, there were many individuals in Denver, who promised Braves followers that Hampton would prove to be just as valuable with his glove as Maddux.
After a few months of watching Hampton display his impressive athletic ability, Braves manager Bobby Cox said he believed the southpaw moved off the mound quicker than any other pitcher he had ever seen.
Maddux, whose 10 Gold Gloves as a Brave stand as a franchise record, committed two errors in 73 total chances this year. His record streak began in 1990, when Jones was just 13 years old.
Jones, who has won the award every year since becoming the Braves' starting center fielder in 1998, committed just three errors in 401 chances and at times displayed some of the acrobatic ability that has made him such a treasured outfielder.
The 26-year-old Jones joins Phil Niekro and Dale Murphy as the only other Braves, besides Maddux, to win at least five Gold Gloves while wearing a Braves uniform.
Other NL recipients this year were Cardinals catcher Mike Matheny, Marlins first baseman Derek Lee, Marlins second baseman Luis Castillo, Cardinals shortstop Edgar Renteria, Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen, Giants right fielder Jose Cruz, Jr. and Cardinals center fielder Jim Edmonds.
Gold Gloves have been presented every year since 1957 by Rawlings. Managers and coaches vote before the end of the regular season and can't vote for any of their own players.
