Miami is losing to a team with a lame-duck quarterback and a 35 year old running back.

This is absolutely ridiculous..

There was no secret about the Ravens game plan. Run the ball.. and throw the ball to Sharpe whenever Billick finds the balls to let Grback drop back.

And still.. the Ravens ran over the Dolphins defense.. hell, I'd say the Fins played like a bunch of girls, but I'd hate to insult more then half the world's population.

Pittsburgh's going to destroy this pathetic Baltimore team..

The only sad part?

The Dolphins are even more pathetic..

The 49ers played a great game this afternoon.

The ballgame basically came down to a Garcia pass being thrown a few inches too short...

SF has a good, young team.. and they'll be very dangerous next season.

Which is why I'm even more mad. Everyone was saying that Greenbay was going to win basically because of the home field advantage, but I knew that the Niners had a very good shot..they're a great team. The game was soooo close and I know that if Tyrone Williams hadn't made that interception the Niners would have won the game. Then again..Brett Favre had an awesome game. I hate it when he does that. ;)

I tried to do this earlier, but my computer went berzerk, and i wasn't able to send it. So I am trying again. Sorry for the delay. haha I know y'all have been waiting anxiously for my take.

The Dolphins truly sucked today (sorry paul, I gotta call em like I see em) I am happy that the Ravens won, because I want to get a chance to spank them all over Heinz Field yet again. Looks like next Sunday at 12:30, I will have my chance.

Seems to me like Miami was unable to do much of anything today on offense and they allowed a pathetic Ravens offense to score 20 points on them. Definately not impressive at all.

Why is it that Miami can never find a running game at all? I can not think of a single back that they have had in the past 18 or so years that would even start on many other teams. Yeah they had Sammy Smith who put together couple of good seasons, but let's face it... Sammy Smith wasn't much. Check out some of the others that come to mind off the top of my head. Bobby Humphries, Lawrence Phillips, JJ Johnson, Lamar Smith. Who the heck are these guys? Exactly. That is what kills the Dolphins year after year.

I was sort of baffled by Greg Gumble's assertation near the end of the game that "baltimore's defense is back." Umm Greg, based on what? Based on the fact that they held a team that had been shut out 2 times in the past 5 weeks to three points?? Or are you basing it on the fact that they slowed down a team that averages 2.9 yards per carry? A team that has one real offensive weapon in Chris Chambers?? Or maybe he was thinking about how the Dolphins roll over and play dead in the first round EVERY season (again, sorry paul ) Come on Greg. That was one game. He was back to kissing the asses of the ravens like he did all the first half of the season. This is still the same Ravens team that was barely able to beat Spurgeon Wynn last week.

The Dolphins have a top notch defense, and it was impressive a times this season. However, they need some serious help on offense. The return of OJ MCduffie should help, along with the emergence of Chris Chambers. BUT.. without a running game, they are destined to remain the same old Dolphins for years to come. Start strong, and fade to the finish line. A new QB may not hurt things either, but that is the least of their worries on offense right now.

Now.. the OTHER game....

Unlike the AFC game, I was impressed with both teams here. The difference in this was pretty much what I suspected. Lambeau Field. Did y'all know that the Packers have NEVER lost a playoff game at Lambeau Field? I find that to be truly impressive. To think that the Niners came really within about 8 inches of possibly winning the game, speaks a lot for the young Niners team.

The Packers continue to win games the same way they have been for the past several years. A strong running game, Brett favre, and a solid defense. Quick, name me who the receivers are for the Packers. Brett Favre is an amazing QB (the dive incident aside.)

The Niners are a tough young team. In looking at them today, I believe they may have the best top 3 receivers in all of football. We all know about Terrell Owens, but lost in his shadow the past several years has been JJ Stokes. Iremember watching Stokes in his days at UCLA and wishing the Steelers would draft him. A few years ago, he was a free agent and visited with the Steelers. He resigned with San Fran for less money than the Steelers had been offering. Oh well.

Then along comes Tai Streets. I had not seen him play since college, and I must say that he played a solid game (although I thought he was going to step out of bounds on the 2-point conversion) I believe he will turn into a very good NFL receiver.

Hearst is back which speaks volumes in and of itself. Hearts is one of those backs who, like Curtis Martin, can run around you or through you. I have liked this guy ever since his days at Georgia, and I think it is a wonderful story what he has overcome. Let's not forget though, Kevan Barlow (which summerall and Madden need to realize is pronounced KEEEVan.. that ticks me off) I have watched Barlow go from being a lazy 18 year old college back with all the talent in the world, but no clue how to use it. He was benched several times during his days at Pitt because of his poor attitude and work ethic. Then suddenly his senior year he was a totally new back. He did everything that was asked of him, and it translated to him running for 1000 yards on a pass happy team Including games of over 200 yards on two different occassions. Against Boston College, he came within 3 yards of breaking the great Tony Dorsett's single game rushing mark. I believe that, along with Kendrell Bell, he may prove to be the steal of the 2001 draft.

Jeff Garcia has spent the last couple of seasons proving everyone wrong (including myself.) I had serious doubts as to wether he could lead this team to anything. I was wrong. Today, he threw an INT for the first time in 150+attempts (about 5 games.) He is improving each season, and should follow in the history of pro bowl QBs in San Francisco.

That being said, I think that the Niners will win their division next season and go on to the NFC championship game.

The Dolphins.. No such luck.
