- The Cleveland Indians have activated righthanded pitcher Paul Shuey from the 15-day disabled list. To clear room for Shuey, the club placed lefthander Chuck Finley on the 15-day disabled list with continued muscle spasms in his neck and left shoulder.
Shuey was placed on the DL on June 15 with a strained pronator muscle in his right elbow. So far this season, Shuey is 5-3 with a 2.60 earned run average and two saves in 28 relief appearances.
Finley has been plagued with muscle spasms in his upper back/neck since the middle of May and was on the disabled list from June 2-20. He made two starts after his activation and did not make it out of the fifth inning in either appearance. For the year, Finley is 4-4 with a 6.45 ERA in 13 starts.
