There's an open slot for either a DH, a CFer (Bernie would DH), or a 2Bman if Sori moves.

Hmm...

Lofton's name has been mentioned in several articles.

Some names to think of (pure speculation of course; the Yanks will likely wait for the non tender list):
JT Snow
Jeremy Giambi
Robin Ventura :D
Scott Spiezio
Travis Lee
Eric Karros
Fred McGriff

We could do worse than Snow, and would like his Gold Glove at 1st base.

Hey Milky..why do you want to get Brnie out of CF???
Just curious!

Kel, Bernie's bat was great in the playoffs, but at times he looked very shaky defensively. He's not covering the ground he was a few years ago.

Yeah butt he was first nursing a bad knee and then coming back from surgery..I wouldn't count him out just yet. As far as I'm concerned..CF is his!

Bernie's throwing arm has been suspect for awhile. Many teams run on Bernie whenever they get the chance so I could see them wanting to improve their defense while keeping his bat in the lineup.

IMO I think J.T. Snow would be a great pickup! He's an excellent defensive 1B. His stick isn't anything special, but he seems to get hits at the right times for them.

bernie's arm has an arm of a wet noodle. he's a liability in center nowadays. so he should really be a DH nowadays.

Yeah its mostly his arm, as others have mentioned :(. I don't think moving Bernie to DH is something that HAS to be done, but if the oppurtunity comes along to acquire a stronger defensive CFer it could be an option.

I do like JT Snow though :). I agree with everyone that he'd be a great pick up.

I also think it's very cool of the Yankees to hire a mutant. How many other team's have a CF with an arm that has an arm???:rotf: :nut: :moon: :clap2:

JT Snow just re-signed with the Giants :sigh:

Robin re-signed with the Dodgers.

Travis Lee, Scott Spiezio, Tony Clark, Eric Karros, Rafael Palmeiro (all 1B) were not offered arbitration (that's all I could find so far).

Vlad wasn't offered arbitration by Montreal . Not that that affects the Yankees much...I think... http://forums.nyyfans.com/images/smilies/erm-ah.gif
