Hot rumor is AROD will void the last 3 years of his deal to come here, saving the Sox $87 mill!

Apparantely, this is why he met with Henry. This way, the Sox could spread AROD's money out a bit, and pay Texas $2mill a year for Manny.

Juicy. :smokin:

Wow, this interesting! Thanks for sharing this. If this is true and he's willing to do that, then bring A-Rod to Boston! :D

However, wouldn't this be an illegal thing to do? Didn't the Players Union/Association make it where once a contract was made and then signed by the player, it couldn't be altered afterwards?

Apparantely, there is a clause in AROD's contract that says he may void the last 3 years.

AROD put that clause in there in case Texas failed to compete, so he would have an out.

Therefore, it is legal, and cannot be challenged.

Yeah, knock that shit off! I've got alcohol in me right now too, so my emotions are heightened!

Damn......$87 mill is a lot of coin. That could allow us to keep NOMAH too.

Why are the baseball gods smiling upon the Sox this off season? They are supposed to hate us.

you and me both babs, but you're right about the $87 mil. seems A-Rod is smart enough to realize that if he wants out of TX bad enough, he'll do anything to make it easier financially on the Sox

Yeah, that 87 million could go to signing Nomar. :D He could be put on second and A-Rod could take over shortstop. And toss Damian Jackson in left field or bring a prospect up and let him take over the outfield.

What's ever going to happen to Lou Merloni, though? Will he ever get to play again?

I need to know -- why isn't a meeting between a player and another team's owner considered tampering?

As long as permission from other team is granted, it isn't. Permission was granted from Hicks.

I was just thinking of that. Why not Merloni at second??? Defensively, he cant be worse than Walker. But offensively, he doesnt come close. But you never know, we did get him back for a reason right??? :notme:

We should sign a petition so that we can see Lou Merloni out on the field and playing on opening day!
