Yes, he CHOKED this year. YES, I hate how he doesn't give interviews. Yes, he's a bit snobby.

But, I''m really gonna be messed up if he goes. I'm not sure dumping Manny is worth losing Nomie.

No one wants to see Nomah go, but it's the only way to dump Manny's contract. That contract is killing us. This is all Manny's fault. If the greedy phuck never left Cleveland or agreed to terminate his contract, we would not be in this position.

Check out what I read on a New York news site. Interesting:

Back before the start of the 2003 season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Red Sox offered Garciaparra a seven-year package for about $14 million a year. Tellem described that as "not even close" to the deal that was offered.

In any case, $14 million a year is not even close to what Garciaparra thinks he is worth.

Understandably, the 30-year-old considers himself worth closer to Jeter's $18.9-million salary, or at least in the $16-$17-million range. But Jeter signed his 10-year, $189-million deal in a baseball era so distant that it might as well have been 1901, rather than 2001.

Considering the way the market is going, Garciaparra is quite unlikely to sniff $14 million a year, no matter where he winds up.

Agreed. Mr. Hamm will be out if and when we get A-Rod. If we get A-Rod, we've got him for 4 years, while Nomah is gone (possibly) after next year. As long as we get return value for him (that Washburn/Glaus trade sounds mighty fine) then I won't mind seeing him go...that much.

:eek:OMG! I just heard Nomie on EEI! He talked about how he loves it here, and wants badly to stay.  They had Richard Seymour on too, and Nomah was telling him great game yesterday.

Anyone else hear Nomah? I am so sad. He's clearly hurt that this Arod thing is going on, and that his place with the team is up in the air.

He just built a house in Boston, he said he loves us fans.

Am I being a sap?

Was he saying that before all this trade talk was going down?

No. He's never talked before. The media just assumes he hates it here.

Like I said, odd timing, maybe I AM being a sap. Maybe his agent said hey Nomah, call up WEEI and tell the fans you love them, or they're gonna dump you.:notme:

Or maybe he WAS sincere. :umm

You are not being a sap. You are supposed to care about Red Sox players and get emotional when our beloved stars are involved in trade talks.

It would suck to see Nomar get traded, but Theo and Co are doing what they think is best for the team. Having A-Rod at SS is clearly an upgrade, not to take anything away from Nomar. I really wish they could both play here.

Thanx Babs. This sure sucks. If Manny wasn't such a PENIS, none of this would be happening.

That's the general consensus.

Check out this terrific Boston Herald article. It blames Manny for everything.

I don't see why he had to say anything??

He comes to work everyday, plays hard and is one of the best SS in the game...

I personally dont think that the Sox dont even need Arod....

Spend the money and get another stud pitcher (starter or reliever)

Theo needs to get rid of Manny, and the only team that will take him are the Rangers. We want our money's worth for the trade, and they only thing they've got is A-Rod. Neither A-Rod nor Nomah will go to a different position, so Nomah is gone:(

wellllll, he had to say something cuz it was out there. someone who really cares woulda dispelled anything that sounds like he wants to go. wouldnt it have been better to have it out in the open instead of trying to read tea leaves?

And there was all that speculation on how he didn't want to play in Boston anymore. Pure bullshit. I'm glad I never believed all that media hype on that.

Well redsoxman, I'm not SOLD on all of this yet. The timing of Nomah's I love Boston BS is a TAD suspect.

He's had plenty of opportunity to talk BEFORE.

That said, I hate to see him go, BUT, Manny does have to go, and sadly, this is the only way to do it.

BLAME MANNY, not the Sox.

Has anyone talked to Nomah about moving to 3rd?

PP,

You could be right and I could be wrong; it's hard to say or place judgement. However, I'd rather believe the words that come out of the mouth of Nomar Garciaparra than from what I read from a writer for espn or the Boston Herald.

What do they know, anyways? What do they know what Nomar wants and what he "said" about not like being with the Red Sox? Last I remember, he didn't talk to the media at all last season, therefore, nothing but assumptions and speculation on the media's behalf.

I know if it was me, I wouldn't buy a house in a city for a team that I didn't want to play for, but that's just me.
