Great game last night by Vick. It looked to me he was more of a QB last night. He did run and took some hits but most of the time he went out of bounds and hit the ground. I think he only got hit about 3 times hard when he was running. This kid has a hell of a arm and if he just picks when he runs and let the game come to him he could be the greatest QB ever.
What I get sick of is all these people saying he is the fastest player in the NFL. I know 2 guys on one team that are faster than him and that is Moss and Bennett. Bennett holding NCAA records for track and speed if Vick was that fast they would have been pushing proving he is the fastest guy.
Yes Vick is good yes he could change the way QB is played but come on I get sick of hearing Vick this and Vick that. Vick might be one team but he isnt the rest of the NFL.

But, as you said it, he's the future of the NFL, or at least how the QB is going to be played.

I too cannot stand it when they start pushing a player like they are pushing Mike Vick. Is he a great player? Sure he is. Is he the "future of the NFL"? I don't know about that. Not everyone can be Michael Vick. That's why lesser versions of him (Kordell types) don't become winners in this league. It's hard to play quarterback like he plays it if you don't have that type of superior athleticism.
Not only that, but these guys in the NFL today are so big and fast, he is going to get hurt. He already has. I don't think that he is going to have a very long career, though I don't mean for that to sound like I HOPE he doesn't have a long career. I wish him the best. I just don't think that is what he is going to get.
And like Mark Madden has said, when was the last time a running quarterback won the Superbowl? They talk like you can't win without one, and yet one has never actually won. Until running quarterbacks start winning championships, the "future" that they talk about is not going to happen.
Just in case you were wondering . . . Brad Johnson, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Trent Dilfer . . . you get the idea.

Steve Young
But yes you are right. Elway ran alot but they made him stop and become more of a QB. Look at Culpepper and Vick both of there first years starting are alot alike. Vick had more rushing yards but Culpepper had better passing stats but still very good running stats. But now both Vick and Culpepper had bad 2nd years. Vick hurt and Culpepper just INT's and fumbles.
Yes in the NFL Vick is playing a good team every week. This isnt College where he gets 6 weak teams to play against to take a break. He cant run like he did last night (although he was a bit smarter about it) and he will have to become a better throwing QB to win a SB.

That would require getting better receivers than just Price

Hi, I'm Dan Reeves and I like to run the ball up the middle on 3rd and long, long island iced tea's, and long walks down the beach. He needs to be gone. That's where the Falcons need to start. Everything else will fall in place

Completely agree with Slick. Vick is a great talent, but enough with this FUTURE OF THE NFL QB'S BS!
How is this new? Kordell, McNair, Culpepper, McNabb........I forget, how many rings these guys have?:umm

Yeah, but look at all the names you just mentioned. How many running QB's were there 10 years ago? 1 maybe 2. It's the direction that the NFL is moving in, no doubt about it

Kordell just sucks he cant win in a card game.
McNair he came within a yard of winning a ring.
Everyone seems to forget about Steve Young. Wasnt he a running QB that won a SB? But he didnt run as much when he won but still could do it if he could.

Yes, there are more now, which I think further proves that it might not be the way to win. In the early nineties, there were only a couple. Now that there are a bunch, shouldn't the odds be better? And yet it still hasn't happened.
As for Steve Young . . . ok, that's one. And it was about 9 years ago. Going on 10.
