The Rocky Mountain News reported that the agent for outfielder Jeromy Burnitz says Colorado and Pittsburgh have offered him a one-year deal at a minimum salary. Burnitz is being looked at as a left field replacement for Jay Payton, who likely will be non-tendered because of budget concerns.

It looks like the Rox are going for a old time Blake Street Bombers again. Signing Vinny, and now Burnitz. It looks like they are going to try to get the home field back to where fans will come back to Coors.

Signing these cheap sluggers is what the Rockies should be doing all along, IMO. Just like Wilson had a better year last year, Burnitz should do the same with the Rox.

I really didn't look for the Rox to do anything until after the 20th, but it sounds as if this could happen soon, along with Brent Mayne. This could keep them from being no-hit more than the Dodgers - yea! :clap2:

Well, if Burnitz does wind up in Colorado, it will ruin my prediction for his career ... After he had that fluky 20-20, .281 season in 1997, I said he would never hit .280 again in his life. He'd have a good chance to make me eat crow playing half his games in Denver.
