Free agent relief pitcher Armando Benitez is interested in signing with the Expos because of his respect for general manager Omar Minaya, according to Benitez's agent, Mike Powers. If such a signing took place, it would reunite Benitez, 31, with Minaya. Both were with the Mets, when Minaya was the assistant general manager and Benitez was the closer. The Expos have more than $6 million to spend in signing a free agent, and Minaya said last week that he may have to address the bullpen situation.

Ayala is clearly the best pitcher out of the three, so I'd give him a shot at closing games before throwing money at Benitez.
