Well it is all but a done deal: Kevin Brown for Weaver, 2 minor leaguers and 3 mil (to cover weavers costs)....Awaiting Physicals...
So what do the Yankee fans think about this????
First off, getting rid of Weaver. Words can't describe.:smokin:
Kevin Brown? A great pitcher, no doubt. Unfortunately, he's 39, has a huge salary, and spends most of his time these days on the DL. How well Brown pitches in the Bronx will depend on if he can stay healthy.

well, the huge salary part shouldnt be much of a problem. ;)

I got goose bumps when I heard!!!!
Finally the Nightmare is out of NY!!!!
And maybe just maybe, taking the bat out of Brown's hands might help keep him a bit healthier..now that he's in the AL he wont have to hit!

Also he was injury free for the 1st time since 2000 so that is promising...

We have Lieber and Wells battling for slot #5, so whichever isn't our fifth starter will likely be the long man/spot starter.

lieber wont last long if you make him the long reliever. he's been a starter forever and doesnt have the rubber arm of Wells...

Okay that's not a word, but it fits the way this offseason has been filled with "done" deals that turn into "dead" deals the next day...
Done deal: Yankees add Brown

Kevin Brown is joining the Yankees' rotation, coming in a trade with the Dodgers. (Jill Weisleder/Dodgers)
NEW ORLEANS -- After days of speculation, Kevin Brown is officially a New York Yankee.
The Yankees completed the trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, landing the six-time All-Star pitcher in exchange for fellow right-hander Jeff Weaver, minor-league pitcher Yhency Brazoban, a player to be named and $3 million. The player to be named is believed to be minor-league pitcher Brandon Weeden.
Brown, 38, steps in to fill the void left by Andy Pettitte's defection to Houston, joining Mike Mussina, Javier Vazquez, Jose Contreras and Jon Lieber in the starting rotation. David Wells is close to signing a minor-league deal with New York, which would give the team one left-handed starter.
Brown went 14-9 with a 2.39 ERA last season, marking the seventh time in the last eight seasons that he has posted an ERA of 3.00 or lower. After missing significant time in 2001 and 2002 with elbow and back injuries, Brown returned in 2003 to throw 211 innings, striking out 185.
In 15 full seasons in the Majors, Brown is 197-131 with a 3.16 ERA. He is no stranger to the American League, having pitched in Texas and Baltimore. He won a league-high 21 games with the Rangers in 1992. Brown also has two National League ERA titles on his resume, leading the league in 1996 (1.89) and 2000 (2.58).
Weaver's 18-month tenure in New York was a rocky one, as the 27-year-old never fulfilled the potential as a future staff ace that the club had envisioned. Weaver went 12-12 in his brief stint with the Yankees, posting a 7-9 mark and 5.99 ERA in 2003. His final pitch as a Yankee came in Game 4 of the World Series, when he served up Alex Gonzalez's walk-off home run in the 12th inning, turning the tide of the Fall Classic.
The fresh start should benefit Weaver, who is from Southern California. Unlike his experience in New York, Weaver will be given the ball every five days without fear of losing his job. In five big-league seasons with Detroit and New York, Weaver is 51-63 with a 4.59 ERA.
"For him, he gets to come home," said Scott Boras, who represents both Brown and Weaver. "That's pretty nice for him. He gets to get into a rotation where he knows he's going to get his 32 or 33 starts."

BROWN'S PLEA TO FANS: GIVE ME A CHANCE
By George King
December 14, 2003 --
Judge him by the effort he gives every five days and not against the popular arms he is replacing. That's Kevin Brown's message to Yankee fans who are in mourning over Andy Pettitte fleeing to Houston via free agency and Roger Clemens, who retired but may join Pettitte with the Astros.
"It's a no-win situation either way," Brown said last night after the deal between the Dodgers and Yankees was announced by the Bombers. "Both of those guys were great pitchers for the Yankees. As far as what people see, I hope they watch and they see what I think other people have seen that watch me play - that every day I take the mound I give them what I got. Some days it's going to be good and some days it is going to be bad, but everything I got I will leave out there on the field that day and try to win that game."
The Yankees and Dodgers finalized the deal for the veteran right-hander with the turbo sinker last night when the Yankees agreed to send the Dodgers $2.4 million instead of the original $3 million after adjusting what 12 round trip fares on a private jet meant in dollars and the fact that GM Brian Cashman couldn't land a bat for the Dodgers in a three-way trade. Brown had that clause in the seven-year, $105 million contract he signed with the Dodgers after the 1997 season that has $30 million remaining for the next two years. The Yankees also sent the Dodgers Jeff Weaver, minor league pitcher Yhency Brazoban and a player to be named, which is minor league hurler Brandon Weedon, the Yankees' second-round pick in 2002.
If healthy, Brown has the type of electric stuff to make Yankee fans forget Pettitte and Clemens. However, in two of the last three seasons, elbow and back problems have limited his ability to take the ball. He was 14-9 with a 2.39 ERA in 32 starts. But in the previous two seasons Brown was limited to 37 games (29 starts) due to injury.

Weaver wins the Cy Young within 2 years....take it to the bank, he just couldn't take the pressure in NY, let some players relax and you might be amazed at what they can do.....remember the stats this man put up with the Frickin Tigers?? Imagine what he can do with a half ass team supporting him....

Hmmmm....intriguing, but we have plenty of time to come up with something......Quite frankly i think your Avatar would look good with a Braves logo on it, but like i said this is a big window....Now if weaver goes elsewhere in the NL i might not say this, pitching in the Ravine will help him greatly, just hope he misses a few starts when the team is playing the Rockies damn era inflator...

I think that Weaver will shine in LA too...
Laid back fans, huge ass ballpark, less pressure to succeed, West coast team...that's like the perfect environment for him.
