3 years, $21 million with a 4th year option.
Is that a player option or Sox option?

Bob, I'm so happy I could just shit.
Now we can deal BYK and/or Williamson for a quality 2nd baseman. I'd like to keep Williamson, but our bigger need right now is 2B.
I hear Theo is agressively persuing JD Drew.

This is amazing. Theo has gotten us one of the best starting pitchers in baseball and he has signed one of the best closers in baseball. He weakened another AL playoff team (Oakland) while making a MAJOR improvement to one of our weakest postions last season.
We are going to kick ass next year.

I hope we can fill that void. IF, and I say IF, the A Rod deal goes down. I can safely say a 120 Win season. How freaking cool will that be??
Im getting gitty again...hehe..hehe..hehe :nut:
Umm, hows this (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1685414) for comfirmation??? :D
Foulke signs three-year deal with Red Sox
ESPN.com news services
Free agent closer Keith Foulke has signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Red Sox, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports.
The deal includes a vesting option for a fourth season.
Foulke's decision came down to staying with Oakland or going to Boston. Foulke, a right-hander, notched 43 saves in 48 chances last season and went 9-1 with a 2.08 ERA with 88 strikeouts and just 20 walks.
According to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark, Foulke's agent, Dan Horwits, met with Red Sox brass Friday after Boston fine-tuned its offer, apparently at Foulke's request. And it's believed the A's -- who are thought to have offered four years, $22 million -- told Foulke this is the best they can do.

GREAT move by the Sox. I love Foulke from his days with the Sox and I hated the Koch trade the day it happened. He struggled in 2002, but turned himself around for a good season. I know PP, you said he wasn't worth $20 million, but you won't regret this (although I think I told you the same thing about Howry:D ).
I'm trying to think who else is in the Red Sox bullpen. Will it be Timlin, Foulke, Kim, Embree...?

Our pen has Timlin, Embree, Williamson, Foulke, Arroyo, .........
I'm forgetting someone. Maybe Kim, but I still think we trade his sorry ass.

Sourbomb? :umm
j/k....you named everyone that matters. We still need long relief, but I think BYK takes on that role if we keep him.

And J.D. Drew went to Atlanta today, so we can forget about mentioning him playing in our outfield for this upcoming season.

yeah Bob, WOOHOO WE GOT FOULKE! :clap2:
also, Vladdy has previously said he doesn't want to play in a huge market or under the pressure that comes with the Bronx. Maybe that makes him a wuss, but I find it smart. I know he enjoys Baltimore and Camden Yards (who doesn't? its an excellent ballpark and city) and the Orioles have PLENTY OF CASH now, even more so than Boy George. Remember, the O's just finished paying off the ridiculous Albert Belle-Scott Erickson contracts, so they have over $120 million to spend.
IN FACT, they've already made offers to Vlad, Tejada, Javy Lopez, and Pudge. If either one of the catchers were to accept the $8mil/year deal on the table, the O's would automatically withdraw the offer to the other one. So, potentially, you could see Vlad, Tejada, AND a big name catcher in Baltimore, though Vlad is the O's #1 priority (sound familiar?)....
...too bad Angelos has more to spend than George. as metsfan pointed out, George is gonna find out soon how short his cashflow is.....

Yeah, the O's are going to make some noise before these meetings are over. They went with a shitload of money to spend and they intend on spending it. Good for them. I hope they land some good players. Too bad their pitching is still going to suck.
