Former Expo Raines Hired to Manage Single-A Brevard
NEW ORLEANS (Dec. 14) -- Tim Raines was hired Sunday by the Montreal Expos to manage their Brevard County Manatees farm team in the Single-A Florida State League.
Raines, 44, hit .294 with 170 homers, 980 RBI and 808 steals over 23 seasons with Montreal, the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Oakland, Baltimore and Florida. He spent his first 12 seasons with the Expos and was picked for seven straight All-Star games, becoming the All-Star MVP in 1987.
He retired after the 2002 season and spent this year as a roving instructor with the Marlins.
"I am thrilled to have one of this franchise's signature players of the past on board to help us mold our future," said Adam Wogan, Montreal's player development director.
