This is.... interesting. Probably the biggest impact this decision makes is that the Rox, instead of spending big money for a closer, should be able to use that money to keep Jay Payton. We'll see in the next day or two.

I've heard Payton could end up in Boston, depending on the A-Rod/Manny soap opera - I've also heard Elvis might come out of retirement, depending on the A-Rod/Manny soap opera, so who knows?

You got to be kidding. A pitcher that can start in Coors and be a good starter and they are moving him to a closer role?!?!?!?! Who in the hell is making these decisions in the Rox clubhouse?!?!!? I dont know the Rox are making moves that are really making me scrach my head and making me mad....

I think the Rox are trying to make us mad, Durango. Otherwise, they wouldn't be doing stupid stuff like this.

I'm not one of Chacon's biggest fans, but I doubt he'll have much impact on the team as a closer. I doubt if anyone will have much impact as a closer, simply because I don't see the Rox in a lot of save situations.

One thing that could change that would be the signing of Payton, which I hope is at the top of their list right now. This does give them a little wiggle room in the money department.

Since they let Mayne get away to the Snakes, I doubt they will do anything that makes sense, though. Me thinks O'Dowd has been smoking the peace pipe again.
