The Knicks are expected to sign Leon Smith, former High School phenom, to a 10 day contract as soon as they become available.
Leon has been a journeyman since draft day. He's was drafted by the Spurs, traded to the Mavs for Giricek. Released and signed by Atlanta. Traded with Kukoc for Glenn Robinson, and then released again. He's been playing CBA ball as well, where he's averaging 15 points, 10 boards and 2 blocks per game.
Now, he's a young man, 6-10 with some nice moves, but he's a psycho. He tried to kill himself at least once when he was with Dallas. He tried to swallow 250 aspirin because his girlfriend broke up with him.
